Diminish And Ascend David Mccracken
My favorite three dimensional sculpture is Diminish and Ascend by the artist
David McCracken. This beautiful and amazing sculpture looks like a stairway to
heaven, reaching over the edge of a cliff and reducing in size as it rises to what
seems like infinity. When in reality it is a staircase that you couldn t climb, literally
or figuratively. Even so, the staircase is an eye catching piece that will make it
viewers stop to look, while also making imaginations start and minds wonder.
Diminish and Ascend is an In the round sculpture, this meaning that it lets its
viewers view it from many different angles. Although from all angles it appears to
be a long climb to the top that goes beyond the Earth s atmosphere, it is nothing
more than an optical illusion. It s really only 30 feet long and 15 feet high and sits
on a hill at Bondi Beach in Australia. Just like when the chapter refers to light and
kinetic sculptures to change an art pieces appearance, McCracken uses his illusion

Background
The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally
called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy
and converts it, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen.
Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to allow for a plant to grow and live. This
experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a home solution. The
variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being given.
In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The
question being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant
growth?
My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow
more quickly than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components
of Gatorade. Gatorade contains water, a key component of plant growth. But, because
Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and electrolytes, the plant should already
be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the plant should produce
sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade.

The service learning project I choose to volunteer for is Agape Hospice. Agape
Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort and support to people
with a wide range of life limiting illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease , and stroke.
One of the issue Agape Hospice faces would be, when someone comes in to receive
help for a loved one, sometimes they can not receive it due to not meeting the criteria
or pay for it since most cases are out of pocket expenses, as the care can become very

population data to prove that the community of Ladera Ranch is a good location to
open a business. Based on this data, the report will recommend the type of business
that is best suited for the community. Ladera Ranch is a census designated place
located in south Orange County, California ( Ladera Ranch , 2012); nearby cities
include Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, and Rancho Santa Margarita.
Construction of Ladera Ranch began in 1999 with the goal of creating a community
where residents enjoy recreational parks, clubhouses, shopping, and outdoor trails for
joggers, hikers and bikers ( City Guide , 2014). The research compiled confirms that
Ladera Ranch has an abundance of facilities for outdoor recreation and leisure
activities. However, based on its demographics, Ladera Ranch residents would also
benefit from having a local indoor Family Entertainment Center to complement its
existing infrastructure.
A team of five students from the BUAD 301 class at California State University,
Fullerton collaborated to gather data from a variety of resources for this report,
analyze this data, and provide recommendations for a future business venture. Sources
such as the United States Census Bureau were used to obtain demographic

Conflict Reaction Profile
The results of my conflict reaction profile were very surprising. I would have never
considered myself to be passive . Over the years in the workplace, I have been
viewed as aggressive. I seem to cause the conflict instead of resolving the conflict.
Management would say I need to be aware of my audience. I was the one to raise
questions or concerns at the most inappropriate times (team meetings). I was
advised this was viewed as negative behavior and it affected the team s moral.
Having a passive reaction style in an organization sometime can impact
productivity. People feel as if they can walk all over you especially if you re new
to the organization. However, being passive can sometimes be the most
appropriate. For example, when I was working for New Behavior Network and we
had to go to the DFS office, the social workers back office environment was filled
with all types of foul language. It was mentioned, that when the social workers
