Why is Smoking harmful?
Within 10 seconds of your first puff, the toxic
chemicals in tobacco smoke reach your brain,
heart and other organs. Smoking harms almost
every part of your body and increases your risk
of many diseases. Smoking also affects how you
look and feel, your finances and the people close
to you.
Substance from Tobacco
• TAR – harmful product of smoking it
accumulate respiratory system.
• NICOTINE – a toxic chemical
compound consist of oxygen.
• CARBON MONOXIDE – poisonous
chemical
Kinds of tobacco smoke
 Mainstream Smoke
Side Stream Smoke
 Third-hand Smoke
Mainstream Smoke
This is the smoke from
lit cigarette that is both
inhaled and exhaled.
Side Stream Smoke
It is the smoke
puffed out by
smokers called
environmental
tobacco.
Third-hand Smoke
What is the smoke
that refers to cigarette
which is attached to the
smokers’ hair and clothing
as well as various surfaces
like walls, floors, chairs,
and toys.
Why do people start smoking?

Dietary Habits
These are the usual choices
of food that people make.
Poor Dietary Habit
It is a habit of not eating enough
healthy food. When a person does not
follow the principle of good nutrition
(adequacy, balance, variety)
Principle of good nutrition
• ADEQUACY – refers to a moderate amount
of nutrients to maintain normal function.
• BALANCE – refers to a correct combination
of nutrients.
• VARIETY – refers to consumption of different
types of food

• Obesity
• Tooth decay
• High blood
• High cholesterol
• Heart disease
• Diabetes
• Cancer
• Depression
• Eating disorders
Sedentary Lifestyle
It is a lifestyle that occurs when an
individual lacks the recommended level
of regular physical activity or if he/she
is physically inactive.

Ways to prevent lifestyle diseases
• Eat healthy foods
• Do daily routine of physical activity
• Do not smoke
• Drink moderately amount of alcohol
• Manage stress
• Stop comparing yourself to other
