Prehistoric art includes some of the earliest known artworks produced by humans. It includes cave paintings and sculptures from as early as 40,000 BCE by Cro-Magnon people who lived in caves. Common forms of prehistoric art include petroglyphs which are images carved into rock surfaces, pictographs which are paintings on rock, and sculptures such as the Venus of Willendorf and Lion Man figures.
