1) The project trained acting students and nursing role-players to participate in communication skills training sessions for 520 first-year nursing students across four fields of nursing.
2) Students participated in or observed role-plays of clinical scenarios and completed pre- and post-session surveys that showed a statistically significant increase in confidence across all fields of nursing for both role-play participants and observers.
3) Role-play participants experienced the largest confidence gains, indicating that experiential learning through role-plays is an effective method for improving nursing students' communication skills.
