Editor's Notes

  • #4: Student - This table has a link to a student webpage describing their course, issues and strategies as a summary – there will be 30 of these as individual case studies. Difficulty - specific to particular students, such as a written language difficulty – listing functional difficulties rather than named disabilities that tend to cover a wide range of difficulties. Problem - specific to the curriculum in the form of a requirement which may lead to different issues e.g. usual spell checkers fail to find course related vocabulary. Issues - Several may result from one type of problem e.g. spelling which may depend on the course studied so may be related to complex computer or medical terms or written language difficulties. Applications - These are software programs used on courses such as using Adobe Acrobat Reader for .PDFs or Microsoft Word. Course Activity - Mentioned by students and linked to issues. Those listed may be assignments, communication, presentations research. revision Guidelines - These are for the various groups working in H.E. Those listed may be Lecturers (incl.teaching fellows and learning support staff) Learning technologists (who implement and support the use of learning technologies such as VLEs across an institution) Support staff (those working in Student Support Services e.g. DLO's; assessors, librarians) Students   Strategies - Discussed with students as a result of their problems linked to issues arising whilst taking their courses Technologies - These may be software or hardware items used to support strategies. 4a and 9a Web Links - These are items that are made up of useful websites or papers that are linked to applications, technologies and guidelines.
