- 3. Three Stages myTUTor • File Manager My computer • Desktop • My documents • Memory stick Course/Subject (For students) Whenever you make information available to your students in myTUTor, please remember these 3 stages
- 4. Stage 1 • My Computer Desktop My Documents Memory stick Save documents to be uploaded in myTUTor either on the Desktop, in My Documents or on a Memory Stick.
- 5. How to Log-on Open up the browser by double clicking on the browser application link.
- 6. Type: mytutor.tut.ac.za in your browser How to Log-on
- 7. Staff number Staff number Use your staff number as Username and Password.
- 8. Select the Course/Subject you want to work on.
- 9. Use Build tab to upload material and Student View to preview your material; use Page Options to add headers and footers; use Manage Course to adjust course settings.
- 10. Use the Tools link to manage the Navigation Bar.
- 11. Select which tools must appear in the Navigation Bar.

- 13. Click on File Manager to upload documents from the computer to myTUTor.
- 14. Click on Create Folder to organise your files.
- 15. Create a folder to organise your files.
- 16. Type the title of the folder and click OK.
- 17. The new folder will show in the File Manager. Click on the folder to open it.
- 18. Click on Get Files to browse for the document that needs to be uploaded.
- 19. Click on My Computer to browse for the file.
- 20. Select the file you want to upload and click on Open, or double click the file.
- 21. The file is now uploaded in the Previous Test Papers folder in File Manager (Not in the course). Click on the Course Content Icon.
- 22. Stage 3 Click on Create Folder to make study material available to students.
- 23. Type the name of the folder and click on Save.
- 24. The Previous Test Papers folder is created. Click on the folder to upload a file.
- 25. Click on Add File.
- 26. Click on Browse for Files.
- 27. Open the Previous Test Papers folder. (Remember the file is now in the Previous Test Papers folder in File Manager, not in My Computer).
- 28. Select the tick box of the file that you want the students to see and click on OK.
- 29. The file is now uploaded in the course.
- 30. Click on the Student View tab. (The information is now available to the students. To access the file, they need to click on the folder).
- 31. By clicking on the file in Student View you can now view the document.
- 32. The document is visible.

- 36. Provide all the necessary information and click on Save.
- 37. Using some of the tools Click on Assignments.
- 38. Click on Create Assignment.
- 39. Provide all the necessary information and click on Save.

- 41. Click on Create Announcement.
- 42. Provide all the necessary information and click on Send.

- 44. Click on the Respondus icon on your desktop.
- 45. Create a new file or open a file if you have already created it

- 48. Type: 1. The File name, 2. The Description, 3. Click > OK
- 49. 9 Question types are available under the Edit Question Tab e.g. Multiple Choice
- 55. After designing all the questions, click on Preview & Publish, then click on Preview the File to check for spelling mistakes and correct answers.
- 56. Click on Next to check the next question and click on Modify to make changes in your question.
- 57. If you are satisfied with your test, click on Close
- 58. Click on: 1. Publish to WebCT 2. Publish Wizard
- 59. Edit settings to make appropriate changes
- 60. Click on: 1. View and edit the current server settings 2. Next
- 61. 1. URL 2. Choose Institution, 3. Username, 4. Password, 5. OK
- 62. Click on Next
- 63. Select the course and click Next
- 64. To complete click on Finish
- 65. Close Respondus and Login into myTUTor
- 66. Select the course in which you have uploaded the assessment
- 68. Click on: 1. Action Link 2. Edit Properties
- 69. Select the indicated Radio Buttons
- 70. Choose the number of test attempts from the drop-down menu
- 71. Click on the Icons selected to set the date and time
- 72. The uploaded test appears
- 73. You may set a password for your students (not compulsory)
- 74. Click on: 1.Student View to see whether the test is available. 2. Assessments to open the test.
- 75. Click on the test title (ABC1 Test4)
- 76. Click on Begin Assessment to start writing the test
- 77. Encourage your students to Save each and every answer before moving to the next question.
