Outcomes
At the end of this session you will be able to:
Create Folders in myTUTor
Upload Study Material in myTUTor
Use some of the tools in MyTUTor
Create Assessment in Respondus
Publish the Assessment in myTUTor
Three Stages

Course/Subject
(For students)
Whenever you make information available to your students in myTUTor,
please remember these 3 stages
Stage 1
• My Computer
Desktop
My Documents
Memory stick
Save documents to be uploaded in myTUTor either on the Desktop, in
My Documents or on a Memory Stick.
How to Log-on
Open up the browser by double clicking on the browser application link.
Type:
mytutor.tut.ac.za
in your browser
How to Log-on
Staff number
Staff number
Use your staff number as Username and Password.
Select the Course/Subject you want to work on.
Use Build tab to upload material and Student View to preview your material; use Page
Options to add headers and footers; use Manage Course to adjust course settings.
Use the Tools link to manage the Navigation Bar.
Select which tools must appear in the Navigation Bar.
Making Materials Available to
Students
Stage 2
Click on File Manager to upload documents from the computer to myTUTor.
Click on Create Folder to organise your files.
Create a folder to organise your files.
Type the title of the folder and click OK.
The new folder will show in the File Manager. Click on the folder to open it.
Click on Get Files to browse for the document that needs to be uploaded.
Click on My Computer to browse for the file.
Select the file you want to upload and click on Open, or double click the file.
The file is now uploaded in the Previous Test Papers folder in File Manager (Not in
the course). Click on the Course Content Icon.
Stage 3
Click on Create Folder to make study material available to students.
Type the name of the folder and click on Save.
The Previous Test Papers folder is created. Click on the folder to upload a file.
Click on Add File.
Click on Browse for Files.
Open the Previous Test Papers folder. (Remember the file is now in the Previous
Test Papers folder in File Manager, not in My Computer).
Select the tick box of the file that you want the students to see and click on OK.
The file is now uploaded in the course.
Click on the Student View tab. (The information is now available to the students. To
access the file, they need to click on the folder).
By clicking on the file in Student View you can now view the document.
The document is visible.

Click on Add Entry.
Provide all the necessary information and click on Save.
Using some of the tools
Click on Assignments.
Click on Create Assignment.
Provide all the necessary information and click on Save.
Using some of the tools
Click on Announcements.
Click on Create Announcement.
Provide all the necessary information and click on Send.
e-Assessment
Designing Questions in Respondus
Click on the Respondus icon on your desktop.
Create a new file or open a file if you have already created it
Create a new file or open a file if you have already created it

Type: 1. The File name, 2. The Description, 3. Click > OK
9 Question types are available under the Edit Question Tab e.g. Multiple Choice

After designing all the questions, click on Preview & Publish, then click on
Preview the File to check for spelling mistakes and correct answers.
Click on Next to check the next question and click on Modify to make changes in
your question.
If you are satisfied with your test, click on Close
Click on: 1. Publish to WebCT 2. Publish Wizard
Edit settings to make appropriate changes
Click on: 1. View and edit the current server settings 2. Next
1. URL 2. Choose Institution, 3. Username, 4. Password, 5. OK
Click on Next
Select the course and click Next
To complete click on Finish
Close Respondus
and
Login into myTUTor
Select the course in which you have uploaded the assessment
Click on Assessments
Click on: 1. Action Link 2. Edit Properties
Select the indicated Radio Buttons
Choose the number of test attempts from the drop-down menu
Click on the Icons selected to set the date and time
The uploaded test appears
You may set a password for your students (not compulsory)
Click on: 1.Student View to see whether the test is available. 2. Assessments to
open the test.
Click on the test title (ABC1 Test4)
Click on Begin Assessment to start writing the test
Encourage your students to Save each and every answer before moving to the next
question.
