           People and Design
20 credit module led by Fraser Bruce, This module provides students from the
Master of Design and the MSc in Design Ethnography with an insight into the
relationships between people, technology (in the broadest sense of the word -
paper is a technology) and design. Using cultural and design theories as
frameworks it explores through hands-on design projects and case studies the
ways in which design practices creatively engage with new trends in society.
placements

20 credit module allows students to work on live projects, from
conducting design research for Deutsche Telekom in Berlin to working
alongside designers developing design concepts. We have
opportunities this year for students to work with a Rwandan Textile
manufacturer and with leading forensic scientists to develop a forensic
      jewellery identification system
masters projects
Ryan McLeod has an undergraduate degree in Interactive Media
Design. For his master’s project he worked alongside Graham Pullin,
designer and author of Design Meets Disability (MIT Press) to
develop speech hedge a system to customise speech synthesis for
people who cannot speak. Ryan now works for Equator Design

Divya Kymal studied graphic design in Chennai, India. Her master’s
project considered how the University of Dundee can communicate a
clear and consistent message to international applicants. After
graduation from the Masters, Divya worked for Idiom Designs in
Bangalore and now has her own visual communications company,
               jointfamily

Jen Ballie studied textiles at undergraduate. Her master’s project
looked at how virtual media might reduce our consumption of
throwaway fashion. During her Masters study Jen fought off stiff
competition to secure an innovative PhD scholarship funded by
ethical retailer Neal’s Yard at the University of the Arts London.
Jen is now working in the Textiles Futures Research Group
(Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, Chelsea College of Art
& Design and London College of Fashion) a world centre for
               innovation.
