- #3: Representatives from 10 DataCite member organizations.On July 25, we released Version 3.0 of the DataCite Metadata Schema. In the next few minutes, I’ll highlight a few of the key changes this version introduces and let you know how to get more information.
- #4: With this version, we’re implementing an ISO standard for date range depiction, and this allows you to easily submit a range for any one of the date types you might want to use. RKMS-ISO8601 standard. - #5: Spatial region or named place where the data was gathered or about which the data is focused. You can now submit simple BOX, and or POINT metadata. You can describe this with free text. You can also use the free text option as a stand alone.Use WGS 84 (World Geodetic System) coordinates.
- #6: HasMetadata andIsMetadataFor; added to the schema as the result of working with one of GESIS’s clients. We think this will be of potential benefit to lots of clients.

On the Schema website, we’ve provided 10 full records as examples, and they demonstrate different characteristics.The recommended set is the key to the Thomson Reuters indexing we heard about yesterday. Please encourage all your clients to submit as much of this special subset of the optional metadata as they have available to them.
