- 1. For this project I was told I had to make a thriller trailer. In my group I had Jorge Kimo and Yuri. We picked these groups because we were either good at thinking of ideas or we knew how to edit or if someone was good at filming. I done a lot of research and planning this helped me to for fill the codes and convention of a thriller trailer; this was very useful as it gave me a good understanding and also gave me more confidence and more knowledge. My thriller trailer was named ‘chased’ and my target audience was 15+ because I think it would have been suitable because the film was mainly aimed at teens and young adults this is because when I was doing my research I found out thriller films are mainly watched by teens and young adults older people didn’t really enjoy thriller films. In to demand to creating an effective thriller trailer I done some task such as research and planning for example we had to create a story board so we can be organized and know when what shots go in at what point. We also designed filming schedules this was a good idea because it will guarantee we get a camera to film with because there will be a lot of people trying to use the camera’s to film, so we had to be certain we booked it for there to be no problems that would have occurred. I believe that most of the research and planning that we used was very supportive this allowed us to continue rapidly on to the next assignment. Particular of the research and planning task took a while which gave us less time this had set us behind with time. I made sure my trailer was clear to the audience so they know what is going on, I done this by adding inter-tittles so they understand it better. I also done this by letting teachers and students watch it and give me feedback on what I have to improve or if I can add something else in that will make a difference. The feedback I got from the teachers and students were mostly positive for example the fades and the effects and shots and the soundtrack and the way it fades in when someone starts talking, but there was something negative at some parts they didn’t understand what was going on so that’s why I added Inter-titles. The conventions I used a soundtrack that started of being calm then gradually building up this benefited me because I had a lot of running scenes so the then it will be dramatic when the person was getting chased this will keep the audience’s attention. I also used another convention which was fast paced-shots I done this because it will build suspense. I recon my Review
- 2. research and planning went excellent this is because it we stuck to it and it gave us an advantage going into the task because we knew what we had to get and do. At first the editing was really difficult but then I got used to the software(adobe premiere pro cs6) I become more confident with it also another thing that really helped was I went on YouTube and watched some tutorials on how to use it and my teacher helped me as well so that was very useful. I gained a lot of techniques and skills and also I learnt how you use the format of the program also I learnt how to add effects for example there was a scene that my teacher told me that the lighting for it was very poor and we had no more time to film so then I just added a light effect to it and it changed the scene and made it look much better. Me and my group had a variety of strong aspects of this whole process for example the acting we all had to rehearse this was really important because then we would know what we are supposed to do and say and not waste time . Me and my group had some weakness for example when we was filming the weather was poor and it started to snow but on the other footages we done there was no snow so we had to wait for the snow to move and melt so then we can go and start filming again.Also another weakness was that if you wanted to do some work at home you had to download the software not the free version the one you have to pay for because if you have the free one there would be a watermark on the screen so it will get in the way of your trailer. There were some improvements that could have been made for example the shot angles I recon we could have added more shots from different angles to make our work to the best standard it can be. I also think that we could have added more shots in different locations instead of the same area. There was a shot of Yuri on the stairs talking on the phone I think we could have got him at the park or benches talking on the phone also there was some background bits that you can hear when Yuri was speaking. I think my trailer appealed to my target audience which was 15+ because there were some violent scenes but not bloody scenes. Also teenagers love watching thriller films and older people don’t like thrillers as much as teenagers I know this because I researched the web online. A thriller convention I used in the trailer was inserting a lot of enigma codes for example when Kimo was chasing Jorge this makes the audience thing why is he chasing them what happened it will give the audience a mystery to find out. I also like the bit when someone touched me from the back and then the heart beat audio came on then there was a blackout for 3 seconds the shows me getting chased and then another blackout then my phone drops and I run.
