- 3. Ver 1 3 Planning • Planning is the process of setting goals and choosing the means to achieve those goals • This activity is done before taking action Mission planning • Mission planning is an activity that applies to any situation during drone operation to achieve the objective
- 4. Ver 1 4 The following mission planning key points be considered for every mission: • Study and inspect (look for obstructions and interference) the site • Know the area required to be sprayed • Required formulation ( Qty, quality and dilution) • Picking the right flight altitude (understand crop life cycle) • Arrange required number of charged battery for the mission • Anticipate refills (Formulation) and replacements (Battery) • Setting ground control points • Create your flight paths • Review the required public and government notices • Carry first aid and safety gadget

Ver 1 5 • Define the scope of the project • Assess the resources required (cost, labor and time) • Terrain definition (Check for VLOS) • Identify the crop to be sprayed • Formulation type, quality, quantity and dilution • Identify the spraying area • Evaluate the legal constraints, obtain permission
- 6. Ver 1 6 • Identify the zone (Green, red, Yellow) • Preliminary weather assessment (climate, season, forecasts) • Mission area assessment • Planning geometric parameters • Placing Ground Control Points (GCP) • Creating flight plan (Software based)
- 7. Ver 1 Ground control points 7 • Ground control points (GCPs) are points on the ground with known coordinates • GCPs precisely pinpoint known coordinates to map accurately large areas
- 8. Ver 1 Placing Ground Control Points 8 • A minimum of five (05) GCPs are recommended • When topography of the area is more, use more GCPs • Then GCPs are distributed evenly in the area • Do not place the GCPs exactly at the edge of the area.
- 9. Ver 1 9 • Terrain check : high obstacle in the take-off mission, landing and alternative landing location • Enquire from the locals about ground activities
- 10. Ver 1 10 • Remote pilot should launch, operate and recover from preset locations to fly according to the mission plan • After the drone is launched, flight crew should have a clear view at all times that is Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) • To ensure the flight is going according to the flight plan, there should be effective communication within the team • In case of any failure or loss of visual contact with drone during the flight operation: Remote pilot should command the drone back to recovery location (RTL) • Always use check list , don't rely on memory.
