Assignment 2 (40%):
Design and Develop An
OpenCourseWare (OCW)
Overview
Assignment 2 allows your team (2-3 members only) to obtain hands-on experience in creating online
teaching contents that fits the OCW principles while applying relevant theoretical foundations and online tools
(e.g. Web 2.0) learned in this module. It is divided into two parts and the details of each part are provided in
the following sections.
Part A (15%): Design Plan for OCW
Your team has to decide a course, which will be developed and delivered in OCW mode. Then, select
minimum TWO(2) units/topics from the course that are suitable to be used for this purpose. Based on the
chosen units/topics, produce a design plan that clearly explains and outlines how your course content can
be turned into open educational resources (OER), which will eventually be used in your open courseware
(OCW) page.
Your design plan should be presented in a compact-but-comprehensive manner (2-3 pages) by including
the following components:
Couse Details
Faculty
Course code & name
Course Learning Outcomes
Course Synopsis
Target learners
Design Plan
Unit Unit Objectives Main Content Content Development Types Pedagogical Considerations
Unit name List relevant
objectives
Choose and
outline the main
content of the unit
(e.g. sub-topics)
Decide how are you going to
develop the
content/instructional materials
(e.g. tutorial videos, slides,
Web 2.0 tools). Also include at
least 1 self-assessment.
State the pedagogical
consideration for the tools
used (e.g. to arouse interest,
to relate to previous topic,
etc)
Your team will have to submit your design plan online on the last day of the module.
Note: Formatting styles for the design plan – Arial/Helvetica Font 11, single spacing
Part B (25%): Development of OCW Content
Based on your design plan in Part A, collectively develop the content (instructional materials) by
ensuring it is presentable as an open courseware and is of good quality for tertiary level. Lab sessions in this
module will provide you with the hands-on experience in using suitable tools to develop your content.

course will get a new page – link will be provided).
