At the end of this lesson, the learner should be able to
● accurately illustrate the division of whole numbers
by decimal numbers through long division;
● correctly divide whole numbers by decimals up to 2
decimal places and vice versa; and
● correctly solve word problems involving division of
whole numbers by decimal numbers.

Dividing Whole Numbers by Decimal Numbers
To divide a whole number by a decimal number, arrange them in long division
form, move the decimal point of the dividend and the divisor the same number of
decimal places in the divisor, then divide.

To divide 10 by 0.5, follow these steps:

to the right so that it becomes a whole number. Move
the decimal point of the dividend as many times to
the right as the decimal point in the divisor has been
moved.

that it becomes a whole number. Move the decimal point
of the dividend as many times to the right as the decimal
