This document summarizes a research paper on a multiple reconstruction compression framework for PNG images. The framework first encodes incoming PNG images using a neural network compressor. It then decodes and reconstructs an intermediate state image, which is input into an image scaling compressor to further compress it. Experimental results showed this method improved compression rates 4 to 10 times over using a neural network alone, with no noticeable degradation in image quality to the human visual system.
