MUSIC VIDEO
ASSIGNMENT 2
YOUR GROUP NAME
HERE
GUIDANCE
This template PowerPoint presentation includes all the
relevant elements you need to cover in your Music Video
Assignment 02
It is suggested you save this PP in a different name and
share it with your group so you always have a copy –
some sections require you to delete the information on
the slide and replace with your own work
Add more pages to each section where necessary [you
should be doing this!]
Add visuals as you see necessary
This document will be added to as you progress through
the pre-production phase.
TASK 1 Idea Generation and
Research
RESEARCH & IDEA
GENERATION
Select a song/track that you like [or don’t like!]
Generate three ideas for music videos employing styles,
techniques and conventions that we have looked at in
previous sessions. Explore how you could interpret the
song differently using different methods
You can add any extra info you think is relevant, images,
mind maps, etc
For quick mind maps you could use bubbl.us to generate
these
RESEARCH
Watch a selection of videos to get your ideas started,
make note of a minimum of 5 – add extra slides,
screenshot the video and in bullet point note down info
in terms of camera, editing, art design, performance, etc
and how this might link to your production
My second idea for my music video is to have me in front of a green
screen with various grime freestyles playing in the background. My
inspiration for this type of video is the music video for “That’s Not Me”
By Skepta. I like the idea for this music video mainly because of the fact
that its relatively cheep and pretty unique. In the official music video the
viewer can see Skepta rapping into a pare of headphones witch again is
cheep and unique, not only that however but it really encapsulates what
he (Skepta) is about and it shows the audience that he doesn’t need
expensive equipment to make music. I feel like I can replicate this feel
by using the same kind of equipment and by using the studio in college
so I will be able to have the green screen behind me. That being said I
feel like I could add my own flavor to my interpretation of the music
video mainly through use of the green screen. I feel like I could be very
creative with this element of the video. As in the real video on the green
screen it features od clips of Skepta and JME rapping. My plan is to use
random unplanned footage in the background. Another thing I’d do to
make this music video my own would be use multiple different camera
angles because in the real music video there is only one camera used
throughout the whole song. Where as in mine I’d like to take advantage
if the college environment and have multiple different camera angles
within my video. I feel like doing this would give the viewer something
SONGS
“Paris” by Suicide Boys
“Method Man” By Wu Tang Clan
“96 Fuckries” By JME
TECHNIQUES AND
CONVENTIONS
The the video I watched was “Paris” By Suicide Boys and it features a lot of slow-motion clips to begin
with. The slow motion shots include shots of the band and audience. The video is also edited
rhythmically to the pace of the song and as the songs pace picks up there are no slow-motion shots
and the footage is actually sped up. The actual environment that the video takes place in is a small
close venue. The group want to convey this type of image to their fans. They don’t want to sell out
arenas or be extremely famous and this video reflects that. The last thing I have noticed within this
video is the fact that there are very little close up shots of the band. This is again because if the fact
that in their eyes they are not looking for the fame and to be adored by their fans, unlike any
mainstream artists that often feature many close up shots in their music videos.
The second music video I have looked at was “Method Man” By Wu Tang Clan. This music video is very
typical for the time. The majority of the music video sees Method Man rapping up close to the camera.
The shots are extremely close up and his body language is very aggressive and angry. Witch again is
typical for the genera especially for the time. Not even half way into the video we see the rest of the rap
group/ friends of Method Man, the reason behind doing this is to emphasise the already heavily
emphasised male bravado. However, that being said there is absolutely no female presence in this video
for better or worse. I personally feel like this has been done on purpose as many “brag rap” songs tend
to feature a lot of female objectification. Where as in this video the artist has chosen to let his lyrics sell
the video rather than relying on cheep unethical techniques. I feel like doing this instantly legitimises
Method Man as an artist and was a great way to launch him into the mainstream.
The last Video I looked at was “Flesh Into Gear” By CKY. This video a lot like the previous two videos
researched doesn’t follow a story or any kind of narrative. This video consists or random clips of the
band preforming the song in a studio somewhere along with some stunts done by the rest of the CKY
crew. This music video is typical of what people would expect from the band considering the genera and
what the group is known for. The video is edited in such a way that the clips are fast paced when the
rhythm is and the actual footage has been very over exposed with multiple colours tinted over it. I like
this style of editing because because it is so unlike anything else yet fits the bands image perfectly.
Usually metal/rock videos are heavily edited anyway but this is done a very unique way.

TASK 2 Pre-production
Assessment
GUIDANCE:
PRE-PRODUCTION
ASSESSMENT
You need to assess the viability of your production and
investigate what is required to enable you to make your
music video
Much of this task is hypothetical, which means you will
need to investigate standard costings for such a
production and apply these to your planned production
considering which equipment you would need and
resources, etc
Resources to support this are in the Pre-production
assessment folder on Blackboard
Delete the questions on each slide and insert your
responses
GUIDANCE:
BUDGET TARGET
You have provisionally given an outline target of £2000
to make your music video
This target should include a 10% contingency [that
means your budget should allow for £200 pounds within
the budget – so realistically you aim lower than £1800]
Your budget should account for everything, except your
own time and input
Consider more than one option to solve a requirement –
you may be able to balance your budget later, there will
have to be a compromise somewhere
LOCATIONS
You need to identify locations and plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access,
cost, weather? How will you manage this?
For my music video I will require a studio with a green
screen. For this I have found a studio in york. I have
chosen this studio because it is located in the center of
town meaning its easy to get any one there that I might
need. The studio costs £140 for 7 hours.
As for other locations all I will require is publicly owned
areas such as fields, public walking paths and the
streets. The reason for this is because the genera of
music I am doing for my music video is grime and all the
locations that are typically used for grime locations are
publicly owned.
EQUIPMENT
What do you need? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly from college, but who do
you need to speak to get this kit? What is available? When?
Look at equipment hire places, etc
I will be needing equipment. The camera I have chosen to hire for the duration of
my shoot is the Canon EOS 5D MK IV. This camera costs £88 a day to hire. I will
be needing the camera for two days so overall it will cost £176.
I will need to hire a light panel so I could use it to provide studio lighting indoors.
An example of this would be if I am filming in the underpass at college I chose
this specific light panel because it is small and portable. I won’t need this light
panel for very long which is why I only chose a small one. This one will cost
£11.50 per day
I will also need a tripod so I can have something to stand the camera on to keep
the image still. Having the tripod will ensure that I have a professional looking
video that stays steady. The one I have found will cost £11 a day.
For my music video I will require a studio with a green screen. For this I have
found a studio in york. I have chosen this studio because it is located in the
center of town meaning its easy to get any one there that I might need. The
studio costs £140 for 7 hours.
FACILITIES
I have found two photography studios one witch is close to me in
York but isn't the best and another one that is a bit harder to get to
in Leeds.
The one I have found in york costs £140 for 7 hours.
The one I have found in Leeds cost £300 for a full day with their
equipment included.
GUIDANCE:
TIME
You will need to plan a schedule for the pre-
production/production/post-production
Nominally you should work on 2 weeks pre-production,
1 week filming [2 college days – Mon./Tues first week
after half term] and 2 weeks edit/post-production
Who is going to do what? How will you split the time?
When can you film? What is the availability of the
equipment/resources/locations/personnel?
What problems can you foresee? How will you overcome
them?

PRODUCTION/PRODUCTI
ON OUTLINE
Track: 96 Fukries
SUMMARY & OUTCOME: The summary of my music video is that
I intend to feature clips of me in front of a green screen with
funny/interesting clips of me and my friends playing in the
background. My music video will also feature shots of me in
different locations filmed in the style of a selfie stick. The end goal
is to put my own spin on two previously existing music videos and
merging them together in my own way.
BREAKDOWN: as previously stated I wish to bring my own
interpretations to the previously existing music videos of Skeptas
“That’s Not ME” and 96 Fukries By JME. To do this I will employ
styles and filming techniques from both. For example as stated
previously I will be utilizing a green screen and the selfie stick
camera angle throughout my video. Not only that but I will be
showcasing many different locations. The things I’ll do differently
to the official videos is that I will use my own clips in the green
screen, I will use more than one camera angle when in the studio
and my video will also use many shots that aren't necessarily
planned. Doing this will allow me more freedom and stays true to
PERSONNEL
CREW: Myself. My strength is the fact that I will be
available to shoot at any time during college
The only other person in my video is Ben. I will be using
him during random times throughout the video. A
strength of this his is the fact that he will be available at
college when ever I need him.
PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
I will be needing props that will be provided by college.
The props I will be using will be found I the studio. I will
be using various items and a table to create a DJ set up.
I will also be needing a mask of myself to coincide with
the lyrics in the song “I roll with Aaron and Aaron” for
this section I will have my friend in the mask.

production costs
Local equipment hire companies have costs for camera,
lenses and kit [tripod, dolly, steadicam rigs, etc]
Travel by vehicle can be nominally charged at 40p per mile –
so you need to know how far you location is from where you
are!
CODES OF PRACTICE
AND REGULATIONS
Do you need clearance for copyrighted materials? [you
will need to contact Mechanical Copyright Protection
Society-Performing Rights Society Alliance (MCPS-PRS)]
Do you have performers external to your group
performing? They will need release forms that declare
you can use footage of them in the production. This
needs to be planned for.
Do you have any actors under the age of 18? You will
need parental permission forms.
Are you filming on private property? You will need
written consent PRIOR to filming. Plan in advance. This
needs to be considered.
Consider where you may need specific risk assessments
and health and safety documentation
CODES OF PRACTICE
AND REGULATION
I will be filming on college grounds so the only
permission I will need will be to film in the studio.
FINANCE/PRODUCTION
COSTS
Using industry rates cards and researched costs of
equipment [cameras], cast, crew, props and facilities
[locations, edit rooms, etc] calculate the likely cost of
your production
Outline details of financial considerations of project, this
could be cost of props/costume/travel/food/etc
Explain what your overall budget is [if applicable] and
how this is to be met
How will you deal with any extra costs? Contingency
fund? What percentage of your budget should this be?
[hint: add 10% on to the final cost, this should cover it!]
Do you foresee any problems? How will you manage
this/over come them?

TASK 3.1 Visual Planning
PRE-PRODUCTION:
VISUAL PLANNING
This section is concerned with the visual planning of your
music video
You should use this section to develop the sequencing or
your video, establish the relationship between the visuals
and the track itself and create a structure for you to
follow when filming
It is important that you ‘pre-visualise’ the video before
you make it; it will make filming and production a more
streamlined process
The following tasks are part of your visual planning
 Pre-visualisation and concept boards
 Storyboarding
 Shot list
PRE-
VISUALISATION/CONCEP
T BOARDS
Tool for exploring the direction and visuals
Provides inspiration and information for the “look & feel”
Presents key moments in your video
A means to sketch/plan ideas
Information on colour/lighting
Defining the “mise-en-scene”
Include as much here as you like, but keep it relevant to the
production, the following slides have been left blank for you
to approach in your own way, add more as you need to
Extension suggestion: edit a short sequence of clips that
have inspired or influenced your video [similar to this:
http://io9.com/5941145/this-directors-video-pitch-for-
hunger-games-might-be-better-than-the-real-movie]
RIP-O-MATIC
You should also construct a 15-20second Rip-o-matic
test reel using existing footage to convey the type of
video you want to make
STRUCTURAL
BREAKDOWN
Breakdown your track into it basic sections [e.g. intro,
verse, chorus, verse, etc] and apply broad visual ideas to
each section
You can use this as the master template for your
production, then add more shots to each section when
you develop your full visual plan
You should create a slide showing all the sections of the
song, then add a slide for each section with timings,
lyrics, what happens and details on specific shots
You could storyboard and shot list each section as you
go, to break up the process.

SHOT LIST
Your shot list should contain the sequential breakdown
of what you need to shoot for your video
It should work in partnership with your storyboard
It will be your working document when you film
It should contain the shot number, scene number, shot
description, framing and action you will see
It should also have information on performers in the
scene and other props, etc
Shot list template is on Blackboard in the pre-production
folder.
SHOT LIST
Scene 1 will take place in the underpass near college. Within
this scene you will see me and Ben dancing to the song The
beginning of the scene with start with a long shot of me then
will fade into close up shots of me.
I plan to hold up pieces of paper in coordination to the lyrics
as the “I'm J to the M to the E,
I make G R I M to the E” part of the song.
The actual shot will have out whole body's in frame
Example of a long shot. I will use this type of shot
in the first scene in my music video.
SHOT LIST
The second scene will take place in the studio at college, and
will just have a long shot of me.
I will be stood in front of a green screen, on the green screen
will appear videos of me in the streets. The shots I will be using
for the green screen will all be shot randomly and will just show
me and my friends.
Example of rappers in front of a green screen. This is the
type of shot I wish to recreate.
SHOT LIST
The third shot will see me and Ben at the Bishopthorpe
bike trail The shot will be a mid shot in front of graffiti
covered walls.
This is an example of mid shot, you are only able to see half the person. I
feel like this would work well in my video as there will be two of us in
that shot and I feel having a close up shot of my face will show the
audience who we are without using a close up shot.
SHOT LIST
The forth shot will see me in the studio by my self with the green
screen in the background with the previously stated random clips
playing in the background.
SHOT LIST
The fifth scene will take place in a field and will be
a close up shot of just me.
Example of a close up shot, I will be using this
type of shot in my music video, this screen shot
is taken from the original music video for the
song I have chosen. I will be attempting to
recreate type of shot in order to pay homage to
the source material.
SHOT LIST
The sixth scene will see me and Ben at Bishopthorpe bike trail the shot will be a lo
shot
SHOT LIST
The eighth scene will see me in a forest near my house,
the shot will be a mid shot again recreating the official
video to the song I have chosen.
SHOT LIST
The ninth scene will see me in a forest it will be a mid shot of me by
myself.
SHOT LIST
Scene 10 will consist of me and Ben in the studio again, I
will be using a long shot foe this scene again with the
green screen in the background
SHOT LIST
Scene 11 will be the last scene of me in the studio, I will be there alone with
the green screen in the background.
SHOT LIST
The last scene is scene 12, this scene will see me and
ben at the bishopthorpe bike trail, the shot will be a
long shot.
TASK 3.2 Organisational

PRODUCTION GROUP
INFO
Include names, contact info, and defined roles at
difference stages of production, using a table is
suggested.
The only person other than myself that will appear in my
video is ben.
Contact info: Ben: 07740298984
His role in my music video is to stand in the background
dancing along to the beet.
LOCATION INFORMATION
Information and images of your location[s] for filming
You should have address details, clearance/premissions
for filming, recce photos and floor plans [including
camera, equipment and cast/crew layouts]
Where possible, have a plan B fallback location option
Assess each location for any issues and suggest
solutions

LOCATIONS
RISK ASSESSMENT
Risk Assess each separate filming location using the
table in the camera H&S PP on Bb as a staring point
Completing a generic filming assessment would be a
start, then you can add specialist/site specific risks as
you progress your production
Remember, a Risk Assessment is an ongoing document,
you should evaluate if anything changes in production
and when you put control measures in place
You should add the table to each call sheet for each
location
RISK ASSESSMENT
CONTINGENCY
PLANNING
Things go wrong
Your contingency plan is there to give you a backup or to
minimise the effect on production
You should consider the following areas: Technical,
Location, Personnel and Organisational areas [about 5
potential issues for each]
Use the form in pre-production folder on Blackboard
CONTINGENCY PLAN
If the studio is unviable for whatever reason my music
video isn't necessarily centred around that location so I
will always be able to film in a different location for
example I would just film at the other locations.
PRODUCTION
SCHEDULE
Provide an outline of what you will do on which days
during production
You should broadly plan to the following structure:
- 2 weeks pre-production
- 1 week filming [plan for up to 2 days]
- 2 weeks editing [essentially 2 days for every day you
filmed]
SCHEDULE
2 weeks pre-production
1 week filming various locations
2 weeks editing
CLEARANCE AND
PERMISSIONS

GUIDANCE This template PowerPointpresentation includes all the relevant elements you need to cover in your Music Video Assignment 02 It is suggested you save this PP in a different name and share it with your group so you always have a copy – some sections require you to delete the information on the slide and replace with your own work Add more pages to each section where necessary [you should be doing this!] Add visuals as you see necessary This document will be added to as you progress through the pre-production phase.

    TASK 1 IdeaGeneration and Research
  • 4.
RESEARCH & IDEA GENERATION Selecta song/track that you like [or don’t like!] Generate three ideas for music videos employing styles, techniques and conventions that we have looked at in previous sessions. Explore how you could interpret the song differently using different methods You can add any extra info you think is relevant, images, mind maps, etc For quick mind maps you could use bubbl.us to generate these
  • 6.
RESEARCH Watch a selectionof videos to get your ideas started, make note of a minimum of 5 – add extra slides, screenshot the video and in bullet point note down info in terms of camera, editing, art design, performance, etc and how this might link to your production

My second ideafor my music video is to have me in front of a green screen with various grime freestyles playing in the background. My inspiration for this type of video is the music video for “That’s Not Me” By Skepta. I like the idea for this music video mainly because of the fact that its relatively cheep and pretty unique. In the official music video the viewer can see Skepta rapping into a pare of headphones witch again is cheep and unique, not only that however but it really encapsulates what he (Skepta) is about and it shows the audience that he doesn’t need expensive equipment to make music. I feel like I can replicate this feel by using the same kind of equipment and by using the studio in college so I will be able to have the green screen behind me. That being said I feel like I could add my own flavor to my interpretation of the music video mainly through use of the green screen. I feel like I could be very creative with this element of the video. As in the real video on the green screen it features od clips of Skepta and JME rapping. My plan is to use random unplanned footage in the background. Another thing I’d do to make this music video my own would be use multiple different camera angles because in the real music video there is only one camera used throughout the whole song. Where as in mine I’d like to take advantage if the college environment and have multiple different camera angles within my video. I feel like doing this would give the viewer something

SONGS “Paris” by SuicideBoys “Method Man” By Wu Tang Clan “96 Fuckries” By JME
  • 9.
TECHNIQUES AND CONVENTIONS The thevideo I watched was “Paris” By Suicide Boys and it features a lot of slow-motion clips to begin with. The slow motion shots include shots of the band and audience. The video is also edited rhythmically to the pace of the song and as the songs pace picks up there are no slow-motion shots and the footage is actually sped up. The actual environment that the video takes place in is a small close venue. The group want to convey this type of image to their fans. They don’t want to sell out arenas or be extremely famous and this video reflects that. The last thing I have noticed within this video is the fact that there are very little close up shots of the band. This is again because if the fact that in their eyes they are not looking for the fame and to be adored by their fans, unlike any mainstream artists that often feature many close up shots in their music videos. The second music video I have looked at was “Method Man” By Wu Tang Clan. This music video is very typical for the time. The majority of the music video sees Method Man rapping up close to the camera. The shots are extremely close up and his body language is very aggressive and angry. Witch again is typical for the genera especially for the time. Not even half way into the video we see the rest of the rap group/ friends of Method Man, the reason behind doing this is to emphasise the already heavily emphasised male bravado. However, that being said there is absolutely no female presence in this video for better or worse. I personally feel like this has been done on purpose as many “brag rap” songs tend to feature a lot of female objectification. Where as in this video the artist has chosen to let his lyrics sell the video rather than relying on cheep unethical techniques. I feel like doing this instantly legitimises Method Man as an artist and was a great way to launch him into the mainstream. The last Video I looked at was “Flesh Into Gear” By CKY. This video a lot like the previous two videos researched doesn’t follow a story or any kind of narrative. This video consists or random clips of the band preforming the song in a studio somewhere along with some stunts done by the rest of the CKY crew. This music video is typical of what people would expect from the band considering the genera and what the group is known for. The video is edited in such a way that the clips are fast paced when the rhythm is and the actual footage has been very over exposed with multiple colours tinted over it. I like this style of editing because because it is so unlike anything else yet fits the bands image perfectly. Usually metal/rock videos are heavily edited anyway but this is done a very unique way.

GUIDANCE: PRE-PRODUCTION ASSESSMENT You need toassess the viability of your production and investigate what is required to enable you to make your music video Much of this task is hypothetical, which means you will need to investigate standard costings for such a production and apply these to your planned production considering which equipment you would need and resources, etc Resources to support this are in the Pre-production assessment folder on Blackboard Delete the questions on each slide and insert your responses
  • 18.
GUIDANCE: BUDGET TARGET You haveprovisionally given an outline target of £2000 to make your music video This target should include a 10% contingency [that means your budget should allow for £200 pounds within the budget – so realistically you aim lower than £1800] Your budget should account for everything, except your own time and input Consider more than one option to solve a requirement – you may be able to balance your budget later, there will have to be a compromise somewhere
  • 19.
LOCATIONS You need toidentify locations and plan a recce. What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost, weather? How will you manage this? For my music video I will require a studio with a green screen. For this I have found a studio in york. I have chosen this studio because it is located in the center of town meaning its easy to get any one there that I might need. The studio costs £140 for 7 hours. As for other locations all I will require is publicly owned areas such as fields, public walking paths and the streets. The reason for this is because the genera of music I am doing for my music video is grime and all the locations that are typically used for grime locations are publicly owned.
  • 20.
EQUIPMENT What do youneed? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly from college, but who do you need to speak to get this kit? What is available? When? Look at equipment hire places, etc I will be needing equipment. The camera I have chosen to hire for the duration of my shoot is the Canon EOS 5D MK IV. This camera costs £88 a day to hire. I will be needing the camera for two days so overall it will cost £176. I will need to hire a light panel so I could use it to provide studio lighting indoors. An example of this would be if I am filming in the underpass at college I chose this specific light panel because it is small and portable. I won’t need this light panel for very long which is why I only chose a small one. This one will cost £11.50 per day I will also need a tripod so I can have something to stand the camera on to keep the image still. Having the tripod will ensure that I have a professional looking video that stays steady. The one I have found will cost £11 a day. For my music video I will require a studio with a green screen. For this I have found a studio in york. I have chosen this studio because it is located in the center of town meaning its easy to get any one there that I might need. The studio costs £140 for 7 hours.
  • 21.
FACILITIES I have foundtwo photography studios one witch is close to me in York but isn't the best and another one that is a bit harder to get to in Leeds. The one I have found in york costs £140 for 7 hours. The one I have found in Leeds cost £300 for a full day with their equipment included.

GUIDANCE: TIME You will needto plan a schedule for the pre- production/production/post-production Nominally you should work on 2 weeks pre-production, 1 week filming [2 college days – Mon./Tues first week after half term] and 2 weeks edit/post-production Who is going to do what? How will you split the time? When can you film? What is the availability of the equipment/resources/locations/personnel? What problems can you foresee? How will you overcome them?

TITLE OF PRODUCTION/PRODUCTI ON OUTLINE Track:96 Fukries SUMMARY & OUTCOME: The summary of my music video is that I intend to feature clips of me in front of a green screen with funny/interesting clips of me and my friends playing in the background. My music video will also feature shots of me in different locations filmed in the style of a selfie stick. The end goal is to put my own spin on two previously existing music videos and merging them together in my own way. BREAKDOWN: as previously stated I wish to bring my own interpretations to the previously existing music videos of Skeptas “That’s Not ME” and 96 Fukries By JME. To do this I will employ styles and filming techniques from both. For example as stated previously I will be utilizing a green screen and the selfie stick camera angle throughout my video. Not only that but I will be showcasing many different locations. The things I’ll do differently to the official videos is that I will use my own clips in the green screen, I will use more than one camera angle when in the studio and my video will also use many shots that aren't necessarily planned. Doing this will allow me more freedom and stays true to

PERSONNEL CREW: Myself. Mystrength is the fact that I will be available to shoot at any time during college The only other person in my video is Ben. I will be using him during random times throughout the video. A strength of this his is the fact that he will be available at college when ever I need him.
  • 26.
PROPS/COSTUME/ETC I will beneeding props that will be provided by college. The props I will be using will be found I the studio. I will be using various items and a table to create a DJ set up. I will also be needing a mask of myself to coincide with the lyrics in the song “I roll with Aaron and Aaron” for this section I will have my friend in the mask.

CODES OF PRACTICE ANDREGULATIONS Do you need clearance for copyrighted materials? [you will need to contact Mechanical Copyright Protection Society-Performing Rights Society Alliance (MCPS-PRS)] Do you have performers external to your group performing? They will need release forms that declare you can use footage of them in the production. This needs to be planned for. Do you have any actors under the age of 18? You will need parental permission forms. Are you filming on private property? You will need written consent PRIOR to filming. Plan in advance. This needs to be considered. Consider where you may need specific risk assessments and health and safety documentation

PRE-PRODUCTION: VISUAL PLANNING This sectionis concerned with the visual planning of your music video You should use this section to develop the sequencing or your video, establish the relationship between the visuals and the track itself and create a structure for you to follow when filming It is important that you ‘pre-visualise’ the video before you make it; it will make filming and production a more streamlined process The following tasks are part of your visual planning  Pre-visualisation and concept boards  Storyboarding  Shot list
  • 37.
PRE- VISUALISATION/CONCEP T BOARDS Tool forexploring the direction and visuals Provides inspiration and information for the “look & feel” Presents key moments in your video A means to sketch/plan ideas Information on colour/lighting Defining the “mise-en-scene” Include as much here as you like, but keep it relevant to the production, the following slides have been left blank for you to approach in your own way, add more as you need to Extension suggestion: edit a short sequence of clips that have inspired or influenced your video [similar to this: http://io9.com/5941145/this-directors-video-pitch-for- hunger-games-might-be-better-than-the-real-movie]

SHOT LIST Scene 1will take place in the underpass near college. Within this scene you will see me and Ben dancing to the song The beginning of the scene with start with a long shot of me then will fade into close up shots of me. I plan to hold up pieces of paper in coordination to the lyrics as the “I'm J to the M to the E, I make G R I M to the E” part of the song. The actual shot will have out whole body's in frame Example of a long shot. I will use this type of shot in the first scene in my music video.
  • 70.
SHOT LIST The secondscene will take place in the studio at college, and will just have a long shot of me. I will be stood in front of a green screen, on the green screen will appear videos of me in the streets. The shots I will be using for the green screen will all be shot randomly and will just show me and my friends. Example of rappers in front of a green screen. This is the type of shot I wish to recreate.

SHOT LIST The thirdshot will see me and Ben at the Bishopthorpe bike trail The shot will be a mid shot in front of graffiti covered walls. This is an example of mid shot, you are only able to see half the person. I feel like this would work well in my video as there will be two of us in that shot and I feel having a close up shot of my face will show the audience who we are without using a close up shot.

SHOT LIST The forthshot will see me in the studio by my self with the green screen in the background with the previously stated random clips playing in the background.
  • 73.
SHOT LIST The fifthscene will take place in a field and will be a close up shot of just me. Example of a close up shot, I will be using this type of shot in my music video, this screen shot is taken from the original music video for the song I have chosen. I will be attempting to recreate type of shot in order to pay homage to the source material.
