  Mise en scene: TheMise en scene through out the entire beginning is focused around one girl in the rain it is on a street and the environment it busy as there is a lot of people moving around her and rushing in the rain. I find this interesting because it gives the audience a sense of the location and mood and atmosphere. Sound: In the opening The sound is non dietetic through out the opening and fits with what we are seeing at one point we have the sound building into a minor crescendo which manipulates the audience because we are expecting the crescendo to happen and we get scared this is also a genre signifier of thriller so then the crescendo is replaced with the man screaming which is also effective. Narrative: In the opening we have the panning shot of us looking from the bottom of the girls foot to her head then a full body shot this shows us that she is the main character. We then have some enigma such as why is she the only one not moving? Why is she not covering herself with a umbrella?. When we see her face transformation of her changing into almost a monster that establishes the binary opposition Human vs. Monster.

  Location and setting: Thelocation is on street in china and it is really dull and grey these colours are key conventions to a horror/thriller film. Also this setting is shown through a high angle shot of us looking down upon these people this is used well as we as the audience can identify who the main character is through this shot. Through out the beginning we stay in this location. In the end we than have a high angle shot panning away showing and establishing shot of the setting this shows the target audience that this attack of this creature was out in the open and this links to the narrative of human vs. Monster.

  Representation of character: Therepresentation of this character already gives us the impression that she is different as everyone is covering themselves from the rain and she isn't moving in the middle of hubbub. She is also dressed in black which usually connotes death also her facial expression has no emotion and looks kind of glum and lost. The representation of her shows that she is not human as the sound of her voice is different and in human an then she bites the mans neck.
