took part in an attack on the Gestapo, killing its

Who were
they?
 Army plotters and their civilian allies
convinced that Hitler should be
assassinated.
 Operation Valkyrie was meant to give the
plotters control over the government so
they could make peace with the Allies
and end the war.
 There had been at least 4 failed attempts
at assassinating Hitler

 Caught handing out leaflets at the
University of Munich, arrested and
interrogated by the Gestapo
 Was executed (beheaded) six days after
arrest at the age of 21 (1944)
 Also joined Hitler Youth in 1933 with
sister Sophie and soon became
disillusioned with its ideas
 Founder of the White Rose

 Began his medical studies at the
University of Munich
 Was caught handing out leaflets with
