Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter born in 1881 in Màlaga who studied art in Barcelona, Madrid, and A Coruña. He moved to Paris where he experienced a "Blue Period" of sadness and poverty before a more optimistic "Rose Period" after falling in love. Picasso then helped develop Cubism by painting objects from multiple perspectives using geometric shapes. He was deeply moved to paint the anti-war painting "Guernica" after the bombing of that town. Picasso had a long career as a painter until his death in 1973, known for innovating new styles and using personal muses like Sylvette in over 40 paintings.
