- #6: I think we all agree that clean, healthy water and air are the foundation for all life. That is why this area of focus is so important. But what falls under this category? Basically all projects that are Protecting and restoring land, coastal, marine, and freshwater resources Enhancing the capacity of communities to support natural resource management and conservation Supporting sustainable agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture practices Addressing the cause of climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases Strengthening ecosystems and communities affected by climate change Supporting education initiatives that promote behavior that protects the environment Advocating for sustainable consumption to build an economy that uses resources more efficiently Addressing environmental justice issues and public health concerns In short all projects that strengthen the conversation and protection of natural resources Advance ecological sustainability Forster harmony between communities and the environment The goal is to reduce effects of climate change and environmental degradation. A total of 18.4 MUSD of global grant funding was allocated to environmental-related causes within the last five years. But what are concrete examples? If you check the in the internet you will find many different, starting with the well know planting a tree action days/afternoons, over reducing food waste up to supporting the installation of solar panels in disadvantaged communities. However, I am happy to have some experienced Rotaractors with me today who have already some experience with environmental projects, so Devankar tell us, what was a project your club carried out?
