Paragon 5 is here! The wait is over... BoD Presentation by: Larnett Monday, June 27, 2011
In Paragon 5 flash is still not required but if enabled it will allow you to take advantage of the new multiple upload photo utility. This will allow you to upload multiple photos at once. Without flash an end user will only be able to upload one photo at a time. Flash is also used in the Video Help section of Paragon. Flash Paragon 4 had very limited need for Flash. No controls were dependent on flash. The main use of flash in Paragon 4 was the training videos that were stored on the P4 help site. The Excel view that was used in Paragon 4 was an active x type control. This control is not supported in Paragon 5 so this view was removed. The end users can still manipulate their data in Excel but they must first export it. Excel Paragon 4 had a special view called "Excel View". This would load a scaled down version of the Excel spreadsheet inside of Paragon. At any time the end user could export the information and it would open in the full version of the Excel application The PDF option also exists in P5, however in P5 almost all report views can be converted into a PDF format. In addition to converting reports, Print + now converts any report to a PDF before printing allowing the end user to visually see how the report will print. PDF An end user could convert any custom report and a few non custom reports into PDF. The Paragon 5 system no longer utilizes the Java grid- replaced by the Jquery Grid which removes the dependency upon the System Checker to resolve common issues with this functionality. At this stage P5 does not contain a system checker and if one is implemented for the system it will be limited in scope and would have to function across all compatible P5 browsers. System Checker: The Paragon 4 system checker performs a variety of tasks to configure the users browser for proper Paragon system usage. Reliance upon Java Virtual Machine and Internet Explorer warranted the implementation of this tool to reduce/assist with the number of support calls generated by JVM and Browser settings. The primary focus of the Paragon 5 project brought the system into full compatibly with Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera internet browsers. This also allows compatibility with the Mac operating system utilizing these browsers as well. The Paragon 4 system relied exclusively on the Internet Explorer Browser and PC based operating systems. P4 also was not accessible with any Mac browsers or operating systems causing loss of flexibility within the marketplace. P5 Description P4 Description
