Value Proposition
› Insight into critical network
infrastructure
› Understand when there are
faults in the network that
need addressed
› Monitor Network health.
Problem to Solve
Solution
Differentiators
› PRP and DLR are class leading
technologies for redundancy
and high availability. The
ability to monitor them is not
in typical network
management tools.
PlantPAx® uses a variety of network architectures but is expanded
with the capabilities of PRP and DLR in the networks for class leading
High Availability. The ability to monitor these architectures is critical
to understanding status of your system.
The network health AOIs and Faceplates as part of the Network Device library
will:
› Monitor PRP status per DAN (Dual Access Node).
› Monitor faults and health on DLR ring (Device Level Ring network).
› Because these protocols are meant to run fast, they aren’t captured by
typical network monitoring tools.
// Network Health AOIs for DLR and PRP

Solution
› The PlantPAx® Library of Process 5.X includes the following ODVA AOIs
and objects :
• Process pressure with scaled value
• Pressure transmitter (Standard)
• Coriolis Process flowmeter

ODVA Process Object
Owner:
Mohammed
ODVA is developing standard core variable structures for specific instrument
types. RA wants to simplify device integration, commissioning, and
replacement by leveraging the inherent strengths of EtherNet/IP so that a
single instruction can be used to interface the logic to each instrument type
(e.g., flow, pressure, temperature, level, and positioners), regardless of the
instrument vendor

Editor's Notes

  • #4: To understand the advances that the PlantPAx 5.3 release bring, I want you to remember the 3-Ss Three characteristics that define PlantPAx AND create fundamental business value with each release. Scalability is the ability to serve the needs of OEMs and Small Systems with IO count in the 10s all the way upto applications that require Centralized, Plantwide DCS capabilities with IO counts in the 10s of 1000s. Scalability also includes the ability to align Systems of all sizes within an Open Architecture. Scope is Rockwell Automation’s commitment to a multi-disciplined control platform that enhances the efficiency in the Process Industries by providing world class DCS capabilities AND the ability to centrally control a full range of intelligent devices like drives, MCCs as well as integrate new capabilities like robots. Security – When you are participate in critical infrastructure around the globe like we do at Rockwell Automation, Security is front and center in our activities. We will take a look at our various levels of certification that provide assurance that your solution meet or exceed industry standards as well as the enhancements you can expect as we continue to be a leader in OT security. Now for the first of our 3 S’s . . .
  • #6: Scalability. No process automation system is able to flex between small and large system requirements – and everything in between than PlantPAx. Our scalability not only helps us scale in project size but also provides an agile architecture to participate in Open Architectures. Let’s investigate a little more . . .
  • #7: Whether you have a small application or you are starting small while thinking big . . . .The award winning CMX PController provides process instruction capabilities needed by OEMs, Skid and small systems combined with the data model consistency to align with lrg apps When paired with Compact 5000 I/O, 5069 I/O, and new isolated HART analog i/o modules you gain visibility to PVs and diagnostic information with HIH support that puts more data at your fingertips & standardized data structures across the enterprise. Increasingly important when you are connected to smart instrumentation. Moving upto the Visualization layer, we are extending our support for data visibility within the Operating environment with support for the PV5000 graphic terminals to get data visible close to operations. FTOptix panels will become available to view data close to operations while enjoying low system maintenance – antivirus updates are not required on these panels as they do not have an accessible OS For applications benefiting from PC based Visualization, FTView SE has been extended to include periodic and event-driven Data Logging Capabilities which provide edge historian capabilities for time series data built on Influxdb and easy to see with the TrendPro and Data Grid control.
  • #9: As requirements get demanding or if your starting point requires more lifecycle support. design and maintenance phases, universal IO reduces constraints associated with knowing whether you will have an analog/digital signal or whether commands sent down to the plant-floor devices or data will be brought up from the field Universal IO creates calm during the chaos of start-up or years later when increasing the level of digital enablement in your operations by removing the need to have a specific IO card for the communication requirement. The Universal IO cards provide a 4-in-1 functionality. Extending the environment for PControllers – CMX CLX – can safely and reliably operate by including Conformal Coating, Corrosion Protection and Extended Temperature capabilities on all P-Controllers, Standard. Look for a new part number to gain these new capabilities. As employees and employers continue to embrace the digital way of working, the demand for Remote Operations Centers is growing. PlantPAx 5.3 will include new guidelines to combine FTView SE and ThinManager to provide visibility across operating areas or in a central location. Other topics: Emulate 3D adding support for common process applications with its increasing ability to model equipment like tanks, pumps and pipes to support control and HMI testing – virtual FAT - as well as supporting Operator Training programs Enhancements to our Bulk Engineering capabilities - ACM I invite you to learn more about all these features in technical sessions that will be presented during the rest of the week. With PSUG today, the process targeted sessions begin tomorrow and will continue on Thursday. Data Analytics where we use Data Mosaix for data contextualization for dashboards for Alarm and Event KPIs, System and Operator Activity
  • #10: As we continue our scalability journey, Industry 4.0 technologies continue to scale and have resulted in user led initiatives for Open Architectures. These include Open Process Automation Forum – commonly known as OPAF or OPA and Namur MTP. At the heart of these open architectures is the OPC-UA communication standard to enable interoperability of system components. PlantPAx 5.3 will introduce OPC-UA native coms from the controller enabling data to be sent directly to 3rd party applications. Additionally, enhancements to our compute module will extend the protocols supported and the compute surface OS support capabilities to help digital adopters who want to bring new applications to the OT environment. These capabilities create business value whether you are focused on adoptiong open standard - like OPAF or Namur MTP - or just want to increase the level of digital assistance available in your operations.
  • #14: In edge Gateway, we make the life of the expert easier. They don’t have to worry about data contextualization. Data cleaning, etc. WE do that for you at the source of the data.
  • #15: In edge Gateway, we make the life of the expert easier. They don’t have to worry about data contextualization. Data cleaning, etc. WE do that for you at the source of the data.
  • #16: As you think about your operations and recognize that your responsibilities for efficient operation often extend beyond the core process that traditional Distributed Control Systems are able to address, PlantPAx stands out for its ability to provide a multi-disciplined foundation to support operations across your facility and enterprise. While process automation is at the core of every PlantPAx system, PlantPAx can reliably and safely participate in an architecture that supports your safety needs or more traditional factory automation activities like sorting, packaging, and palletizing your products or metering and monitoring your liquid distribution network. PlantPAx users have enjoyed industry-leading integration of drives and motor control centers. These capabilities will be enhanced with support for more power devices and common device integration experience across power device options.
  • #18: While security is last topic today, remind that PlantPAx was the industry’s first IEC-62443-3-3 certified RefArch most comprehensive OT security standard, updated w/ TUV each subsequent SR eco-system of certifications Rockwell Automation has achieved across our enterprise to protect your enterprise - for our Software Development processes, Individual Products and Delivery Organizations. All of these certifications underscore our commitment to meeting the highest industry standards. We recognize that the industry and the threat environment is constantly changing, so we are constantly adding capabilities. In 5.3 this includes an expanded firewall solution via partnership with Fortinet. IDMZ guidance leveraging network and application security controls to manage and protect the flow of data across zones. Threat Detection: PlantPAx will be characterized with modern threat detection capabilities from Claroty, technology partner, real-time, continuous visibility into ICS threats across the global enterprise, allows for rapid incident response to lessen the impact of breaches. EndPoint protection focuses on Security Policy Management for network devices. Open architectures and the use of OPC-UA communication, we have added OPC-UA security management features including certificate management, the creation and management of zones and conduits. Certifications and enhanced capabilities are just 2 ways we work to improve your security posture. Learn more in the exhibition area on Wednesday and Thursday.

  • #56: This data is in silos is different automation system data sources so it can not be easily used to build solutions. To solve this exact challenge – we launched. This offering can connect, aggregate and contextualize data from disparate sources into a flexible knowledge graph – which liberates data across the Enterprise and makes it valuable. We are building our domain expertise into this solution by providing out of the box connectors to key OT systems and also industry specific data models that can really enable the scaling of Industry specific solutions across the Enterprise. Related challenges: Shortened project timelines Fast commissioning and startup Risk of integration multi packaging and system integration Take rapid advantage of innovation Easily switch unit operations technology
  • #57: To further accelerate time to value – we are now offering a set of Industry specific solutions built on DataMosaix. Solutions that provide PlantPAx system analytics around alarms, device and system health and solutions specifically built to optimize batch quality, energy usage and asset performance. All of these solutions need multiple sources of data, some from OT and some even from other non-OT sources like weather, asset manuals, operating procedures – and we have aggregated and contextualized these data sources so it is easy to scale rapidly. Because of the contextualization and the flexibility of the knowledge graph – we can look at things like Energy per batch of product produced or real-time emissions tracking for every product unit – traversing data across multiple applications. Achieving this with traditional methods would be hard and would require significant engineering efforts. Related challenges: Shortened project timelines Fast commissioning and startup Risk of integration multi packaging and system integration Take rapid advantage of innovation Easily switch unit operations technology
  • #58: Related challenges: Processing large amounts of data in real-time from multiple sources Ensuring data quality and accuracy Integrating analytics with existing control systems Detecting potential problems before they become serious Monitoring equipment performance in real-time and take actions early when needed
