Poaching is negatively impacting polar bear and tiger populations. Figure 1 shows declining polar bear numbers, with the population dropping from 25,000 to 20,000-25,000 between 2001 and 2011. Tigers are also endangered, with their habitat reduced to 7% of original territory and numbers declining to 3,200 globally. Increased enforcement is needed to curb poaching of these threatened species and protect their long-term survival in the wild.
