This document discusses misogyny and casual sexism in American culture. It explores how gender roles and power dynamics have been established since colonization, limiting women's agency and roles in society. Musical artists are highlighted as influencing younger generations by frequently using misogynistic and offensive language about women in their lyrics. While individuals may not intend to promote sexism, cultural norms and role models unconsciously shape attitudes and behaviors. Breaking down these ingrained prejudices will require recognizing how historical practices have benefited some groups over others and reevaluating preconceived notions of gender, power and social value.
