- 2. The Start… In summer of 2008 two engineering senior years students Shanshak ND and Abhinav Lal at NIT K Surathkal came up with a very interesting business idea for a start-up firm. The idea was to integrate healthcare field with information technology. The main focus was to revolutionize the age-old healthcare industry . This vision led to formation of Practo ray platform.

To help patients in making an informed decisions regarding doctor and clinic selection as per his/her needs. To provide a advertising platform for doctors and various other medical practitioners. To help doctors in maintain patient relationships ( Client relationship management).
- 4. BusinessModel The business model which Practo Ray used was of “ Software as a Service” or “SaaS”. In this type of model the software is licensed on subscription basis and centrally hosted. Sometimes it is also referred to as On-demand software. SaaS is typically accessed by users using thin client via web browser.
