Definition
Emotional disturbance is defined as follows(IDEA):
• The term means a condition exhibiting one or more
of the following characteristics over a long period of
time:
i. An inability to learn that cannot be explained by
intellectual, sensory, or health factors.
ii. An inability to build or maintain satisfactory
interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers.
iii. Inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under
normal circumstances.
iv. A general contained mood of unhappiness or
depression.
What can we do as a Teacher, Parents
and Policy maker?
1) Inform pupils of what is expected of them
2) Establish a positive learning environment
3) Provide a meaningful learning experience
4) Consult the
professionals(psychotherapist, behavioral
therapist, etc)
