SPORTS
AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND RACISM
WHAT IS
SPORT?
Sports are group games and
individual activities involving
physical activity and skills.
Participation in sports is a great way of staying active and
offers wonderful rewards for mental health. Being involved
in sports has been proven to help children learn valuable
skills for dealing with life's ups and downs. They teach youth
how to interact with others and work as a team. This skill
facilitates working with others in other ways such as on a
class project or a school play.
Sports also help students become more
independent and feel better about themselves.
The result is positive self-esteem and self-
confidence, which are extremely important for
determining later happiness and success.
Sports offer an enjoyable, exciting environment in
which to learn how to handle both failure and
success. Everyone wins and loses some of the time
in both sports and other endeavors.
Winning feels great and empowering but can also
cause a young person to feel pressure and anxiety in
the next attempt to win. Losing usually produces
feelings of sadness, depression, and disappointment.
Learning how to cope with these different feelings
fosters good mental health.
NO BOUNDARIES!
According to the World Sports Encyclopedia (2003), there are
8,000 indigenous sports and sporting games
There is a sport out there for everyone.
Sports are the universal language.
It knows no boundaries and has
the ability to unite people from all
walks of life. It draws people and
community and allows for the
opportunity to change the lives of
those involved.
Achievement
has no colour!
Sports build unity among a group
of people pushing toward a specific
goal. They may not have anything
in common beside their love of the
game, and that alone draws them
together.
SPORTS
UNITE
US!
Like any relationship, sports teaches teamwork.
An athlete is no longer a individual unit but part of
a whole.
Sports forces people to deal with different
personalities and temperaments.
The more diverse the team, the
more opportunity for diverse
viewpoints that ultimately lead to
better solutions. Better solutions
lead to greater team success.
DIVERSITY
BUILDS
GREAT
TEAMS!
Through sports events, millions of people come
together all around the world.
At Our School
Sports takes the major part of entertainment at our

On break times, it's possible to see students (boys

We attend tournamets
Our badminton team has been the champion in
province for 3 years
