- #3 I worked with two other students, Chloe and Rae on my prelim task. We all had individual roles: I was behind the camera, Chloe was Person 1 and Rae was Person 2 but we all worked together to edit the film. We met our deadlines by working in a small amount of time and using it wisely, we were very professional and focused, and worked well together as a team which helped us speed up the process. We managed to finish on time although we had to stay behind and make a few adjustments to help us tidy up our film. A few problems we faced were lighting and other students being in the way of our shots, we asked our technician about the lighting and he made some adjustments on our Cannon HD Camera to help solve the issue, also we compromised with the other groups and were able to do our shots. My strength in this task was working well together as a team and my weakness was getting the right angle of the shots.
- #4 In order to plan our film we used a story board, we all worked together as a team to decide which shots we could use to show our knowledge on the variety of different shots we knew. We used a variety of shots to add interest to the scene and had to make sure that they all fit together as if we were producing a professional film. Making a story board helped us when it came to making the film because we knew what order to do our shots in, so it helped us work faster. Our work was planned well and this is evident in our end result. Our shots were organised because of our planning and therefore it wasn’t too difficult to edit. We knew which order our shots were in and where to find them on our tape.
- #5 We used a normal tape to record our shots and a battery which we used to turn the camera we used on. The technology we used was Adobe Premier on the computer so we could edit our film, view the different shots and find the best ones to piece them together. The camera we used to take our shots was a Cannon HD camera, we placed it on a tripod which we used to take still images, pan and tilt. The tripod abled us to keep our shots straight and level. We had to but the camera on the tripod first, after making sure the tripod was level, we then had to put the tape into the side. After this we put the battery in the back on the camera and turned it on. After this we were able to start recording our shots just by pressing the ‘start’ button. Also we used a white board and pen so that we could find our shots when it came to editing. I learned how to set up a camera and tripod and now I can do it quite fast. I also learned how to pan and tilt, as well as this I learned how to take a shot professionally and use the correct terms.
- #6 While we were shooting, editing and planning we had to take into account the surroundings, and be sure not to move anything as all the shots had to consist of the same props and background. We also had to make sure we didn’t go past the 180 degree line while shooting so that we didn’t confuse the audience. While planning we needed to make sure we remembered our lines before shooting so we could get it done quickly, and also to use the same hand to do thing like opening the door and passing the invitation so it looks professional and the continuity is fluent throughout all the scenes. Also we needed to make sure we used the same facial expressions and body language to that it was consistent. We needed to make use of our space and also make sure we had no disruptions as this could affect our film. We needed to be quiet so there was no sound in the film that wasn’t meant to be there.
- #7 Our sequence was very successful as we met the deadline we needed to, and also because our film looked very good, it was consistent and professional and also our editing looked very good. We worked well as a team and all contributed to the editing, and also in making our story board. Everyone was heard and we all used our ideas to make a good film or a high quality. However if I were able to do the task again I would like to do something more different and exciting with more time and better props, also better camera shots and a wider variety of shots to make it look like a professional film.
- #8 I’ve learned the more professional, the faster you can complete the work and therefore produce a good film, as you have lots of time for editing and you can add more shots. I’ve learned you all need to work together in order for it to be successful and to help each other. I’ve learned that the more organised you are the easier it is for you when it comes to shooting and also you can get straight on with the task with no disruptions, you can stay focused and complete the task properly. As well as this I’ve learned what angle to have to camera to do certain shots, how to get those shots and how to use the camera to manipulate and person or object.
- #9 After completing the task I have learned that editing and filming is very difficult and requires lots of time and patience, also that you have to be very precise and can not be distracted if you’re not professional. Also if you make a mistake it can be easily fixed, but if you’re not focused you let your team down. I’ve learned how to make a shot continue to another, making 2 different shots flow so it looks like the same one. I’ve learned that making a film is time consuming and you have to go through lots of shots to find the perfect one. To make decisions while editing we worked as a team and with our technician to find the shot which looked best and fitted the previous shot. We planned our time by each doing certain parts of the editing and then using our own time to do some extra bits so that we would be finished by the dead line. My weaknesses were completing the task in my own time, my strength was being focused while doing the editing and also finding good shots. Next time I wouldn’t manage my time better so I had more room for improvement.
