Media Release

Sappi confirms its support for EcoPrint 2012, the
print industry’s new event focusing on
sustainability
Brussels, June 13, 2012

Sappi Fine Paper Europe is delighted to announce its position as Education Partner
for EcoPrint 2012 (Berlin, 26 – 27 September 2012), the world’s first exhibition and
event 100% focused on sustainable print business. Ecoprint has been organized in
response to industry demand for an event dedicated to sustainability throughout the
print supply and value chain. Sappi’s decision to become Education Partner reflects
its commitment to sustainable production and regeneration.

Eric Van den Bruel, Marketing & Product Development Director, Sappi said, “We are very
excited about the EcoPrint initiative. Sustainability is core to the print industry in general, but
we need to work together to make sure that our industry is positioned as such. By bringing
together all the elements of the print supply chain, EcoPrint will facilitate exchange and
collaboration which is key to a strong sustainable future for our industry. Within Sappi, we are
building on our successful Positivity Campaign launched last year to develop a more
extensive sustainability focused website to capture all the efforts that we are making in that
area. We look forward to launching it in the Autumn.”

Sappi’s approach to sustainability is based on a holistic view of Planet, People and
Prosperity (3P’s). These values and commitments underpin everything they do, from
business decisions and processes to their dealings with stakeholders and customers. Sappi
Fine Paper Europe (SFPE) has been publicly reporting progress on sustainability initiatives
since 2008 as part of a global sustainability report issued annually by Sappi Limited after the
financial year-end. In 2012, Sappi Fine Paper Europe launched its own regional report for the
first time, allowing for a deeper regional focus that reflects local markets and aspects.
