How Are Project Privileges Applied?
8
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Make OBS and EPS Identical
₋ EPS can have multiple top level nodes, OBS can only have one
• Privileges flow down through EPS hierarchy, but not OBS
• Less restrictive access overrides more restrictive
• Changes are processed by background job
₋ Document 907869.1 – “How to Manually Run Background Jobs for a P6
Database”
How Are Project Privileges Applied?
9
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Microsoft Project (MSP)
– To import .mpp files into P6 client, MSP 2003 or earlier must be installed
– MSP 2007 and 2010 (P6 8.2 and later) use XML import, no installation required
• P3
– P3 must be installed with P6 client (not possible on 64-bit OS)
– Converter can be run from PC with P3 installed
– Document 910992.1 - “Unable to Import P3 Project Directly into P6”
Import Considerations
10
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Excel
₋ P6 Web import can only add new activities
₋ Fields marked with an asterisk (*) can not be updated via import
Import and Export Considerations
11
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Current project is being used as baseline
– Baseline dates are taken from planned dates
• Baseline project is used as baseline
– Check Earned Value Calculation setting
How are Baseline Dates Calculated?
12
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Planned/budgeted units are spread according to the planned dates
Planned/Budgeted Units and Planned Dates
13
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Activity has not started
₋ Equal to the start and finish date
₋ Can be changed manually, but will be set back when scheduling
• Activity has started
₋ No longer updated by scheduler
₋ Can be changed manually and will no longer be set back when scheduling
How are Planned Dates Determined?
14
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
Percent Complete Fields
• Activity percent complete fields • Duration % complete
₋ Planned duration – actual duration /
planned duration
• Schedule % complete
₋ Based on data date, baseline start,
and baseline finish
• Physical % complete
₋ Entered manually or uses steps
• Units % complete
₋ Actual units / at complete units
15
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Activity % complete – based on physical, duration, or units % complete
Percent Complete Fields
16

• Activity % complete and physical % complete do not roll up
Percent Complete Fields
17

How is Longest Path Calculated?
• Criticality based on float • Criticality based on longest path
18
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Driving relationships, starts at the end of the project and works
backwards
• Ends when activity has positive float (based on successor calendar)
• May not lead back to project start
How is Longest Path Calculated?
19
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• Activity starts before predecessor
Out of Sequence Activities
20
Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
