PROFESIONAL STATEMENT

Before SBE

        The main task given on the FourthSchool Based Experince (SBE IV) are
related to the a few aspects based on our mimor subject. The trainee teacher need to
make observation on English lessons, collect remedial and reinforcement
worksheets, interviews the school community especially English teachers and make
a reflection on the following aspects based on their minor subject. My minor subject
was English.

        The following are the three main aspects that given to me based on my minor
subject.

  i.    Effectively classroom management practises.
 ii.    The pattern of student’s behavior and learning styles.
 iii.   Role of teacher towards the students in aspects of guidance and welfare.


        The main objective is to enable us, the trainee teacher,to know and feel the
real situation of the school and observe the teaching and learning process of English
lesson in the classroom. We will know whether our learning at the college on the
aspects above are true or not when it come to the real situation. Besides that, it will
give a chance and opportunity for us to be in a school company as a teacher in a
student’s view.


        For the three above aspects, i would like to use five different methods that are
observation, checklist, interview, questionnaire and discussion. I will try to observe
the school environment and situation in a different perspective as a teacher. I also
would like to ask the permission from the headmistress to let me enter the class and
make an observation on the techniques of teaching and learning use by the teacher
during class learning session. I believe that i will understand more if i could see the
techniques by myself. I also will try to ask her permission to let me handle my own
classroom so that i can know my performance in handling students. I also will try to
identify the learning culture of the school. Malays have a proverb that says, “tak kenal
maka tak cinta”. Through observation, i confidence that i can see the true of the
school.
I also will use the method of interview to get the informations that i need. I
intend to interview all the school administrators such as headmistress, senior
assistant teachers, specialist teachers, school’s staffs and students by myself. I hope
that all of them willing to spend some of their time for me to interview them. Before
that, i will set up the questions that i would like to ask them regarding my task. I
believe i can get more informations through this method.


       Besides that, i also will use the questionnaire form and distribute it among the
school’s staffs. I will ask them to fullfill the form sincerly. The content of the form will
include the aspects of school management, class management, process of teaching
and learning in the classroom and also their opions towards the school. Indirectly, i
can know the opion of the school’s staffs towards the management of the school by
the school administrators.


       I also will use the method of checklist to ensure that i do not leave behind any
of the elements that i need to complete. Through checklist i can manage and plan my
own strategies to finish up this task easily and calmly. Without it i believe there will be
something missing somewhere in the process of obtaining and collecting the
informations needed.


       I also will apply the discussion method in getting the information. I will have a
discussion with the school administrators before i go further so that they will know
what i need and i also will know about the school. This will make my task easier to
get done and i hope that they will help me.


       I hope that i will have a good relationship with all the teachers, school’s staffs
and students so that i can finish my Second School Based Experience (SBE II) at this
school happily and without any problems. I also hope that i can run all the five
methods above nicely.


       Lastly, i wish all my profesional statements before Second School Based
Experience (SBE II) will become a systematic strategy for the activities that i will have
and as a tool for me to value the effectiveness og my strategies.
During SBE

         On Sunday, 22 August 2011, I went to the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seribongwith
my friends Muhammad Zulhairi Zulkifli. At the school we met two others trainee
teacher that came from other colleges and two trainee teachers doing practical, so
there were four of trainee teachers that will have the Second School Based
Experience (SBE II) and the total of us were six. From the total, four of us were male
and the rest were girl. This is first time for me doing SBE at a school where male
trainees are more than female.The headmistress, Puan Hajjah Mek Mas binti Hamid,
had introduced us to the community of the school during the morning assembly. After
the assembly, the Assistant Senior Teacher 1, Encik Raja Mamatgave a short
briefing to us. He welcomed us to this school and promised to help us. After that, we
got two classes to enter as the temporary teacher because some of the teachers can
not attend the class. We got standard one class, 1 Cekal, and standard four class, 4
Cekal. The situation at the both classes were quite same. Besides that, we also took
a few pictures of the school’s environment to fullfill the task given.

         On Monday, after i had a discussion with my mathematics teacher mentor,
Puan Normah binti Ibrahim, she asked me to finish up my task in aspect of the
schools information. He helped me by giving me a management school book. Based
on the informations in the book, i managed to collect almost 95% the informations
about the school. I also had ask his permission to let me enter mathematics classes
and observe him so that i can observe the techniques and methods used by him to
teach English to students. He had introduced me to Puan Salina binti Ibrahim, the
standard one mathematics teacher. I will observe Puan Salina and Puan Normah for
this whole week.

         On Tuesday, my friends and i decided to finish up the collaboration form. We
had interviewed a teacher observed an English class. Unfortunately, there were a
problems especially in aspect of time management. Most of them were quite busy.
However, we still can interview them and we got a lot of information. In the mean
time, we still have three more classes to replace. They were 2 Kreatif, 3 Mahir and 4
Mahir.
On Wednesday, we celebrate Majlis Khatam Al-Qur’an. All the students did
come to school . The participants whom were already “khatam” were celebrated by
given some tokens and kuih onde-onde for berbuka. In the evening, we, trainee
teachers also asked by Mrs. Headmistress to come to school to break-fast together
with excellent students and all teachers. Our meal was sponsored by one of the
parents. We enjoy the nasi kerabu with ayam percik so much .

      On Thursday, 25 August 2011, was the last day we will be at this school.We
had entered and observed aonemathematics classes that conducted by Puan Nor
Hayati binti Che Mat. Based on my observation, i got many new knowledge on how to
handle the class well and how to teach the students so that they will understand what
we are trying to teach them. Alhamdulillah, at last we managed to finish up our task.
After SBE

       I had made a reflection on the          task given for this Fourth School Based
Experience (SBE IV) overally. I also made a checklist before handling my SBE
portfolio to the lecturer, Mr. Ganesan. Honestly,using the profesional statement
before SBE, during SBE and after SBE, had guide me very well because i managed
to go through all my activities smoothly. Besides that, it also helped me to achieve my
objective of the activities that i had plan. After SBE also i felt it still helped me in
valueing my performance and guide me to take a next steps for the improvement in
the future. I hope that my task will fullfill all the criterias needed.

Professional statement

  • 1. PROFESIONAL STATEMENT Before SBE The main task given on the FourthSchool Based Experince (SBE IV) are related to the a few aspects based on our mimor subject. Honestly,using the profesional statement before SBE, during SBE and after SBE, had guide me very well because i managed to go through all my activities smoothly. Besides that, it also helped me to achieve my objective of the activities that i had plan. After SBE also i felt it still helped me in valueing my performance and guide me to take a next steps for the improvement in the future. I hope that my task will fullfill all the criterias needed.
