This document proposes a directive on adequate minimum wages in the European Union. It aims to ensure workers are protected by adequate minimum wages that allow for a decent living wherever they work. Key objectives are improving the adequacy of minimum wages, increasing access to minimum wage protection through collective agreements or statutory minimum wages, while respecting national competence and social partner autonomy. The proposal is consistent with existing EU policies and aims to implement principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights related to wages, social dialogue, gender equality, and equal opportunities.
