- 1. EVALUATION; question two. Does your thriller represent any social groups? Our thriller opening represents the middle class background due to the setting and location of where we filmed; the area is a quiet, suburban area which is very spacious and many wealthy areas are quiet and are set up in a suburban way. The house connotates affluence. The bathroom we used also represents middle class; its clear, big and the colours represent wealth.
- 2. EVALUATION; question two. Does your social group relate back to any of the categories we used during the TV drama unit? CLASS AND STATUS; Middle class. This is because of the setting and location. Another reason is because it is normally working class people as victims so we wanted to contrast with the usual so we ‘surprise’ our audience. AGE; Teenager – aged 16-19 – we used this to appeal to the younger audience. ETHNICITY; due to the fact that we didn’t have a choice of actors we had to use a ethnic minority. Another reason is because hardly any movies have a ethnic minority as victim or villain. So no one would expect it. REGIONAL IDENTITY; from a wealthy town in London. GENDER; male. We used a male victim because this contrasts with the usual female victim.
- 3. EVALUATION; question two. Have you represented the social group in a positive or negative aspect, or is it complex? In my opinion, I feel as if they way we have represented the social group shown is quite complex. This is because the character was quite wealthy, which was evident in the bathroom and phone, was PARANORMAL ACTIVITY the victim in our thriller opening, and in certain films the rich 2 people are seen as the villain due to the power they have. However in one of our inspiration movies, Paranormal Activity TWELVE; the gates. 2, the supernatural being haunts a wealthy family. This is shown through the CCTV around the house. The camera shows the big white house with a swimming pool. In our thriller, TWELVE, our gates outside the house, the white bathroom, red carpet and the mobile phone.
