RACISM We’ve all heard the word being used, but what exactly is racism? Racism is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different ethnic community. People can also experience prejudice because of their religion or nationality. Racism takes many different forms. These can include: Personal attacks of any kind, including violence. Written or verbal threats or insults. Damage to property, including graffiti. Inappropriate language e.g. Chinky,Paki, Nigga.
Why Are People Racist? Racism comes from a belief that one ethnic community is superior to other communities. This can then lead to abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another community on the basis of such a belief. Racists tend to feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race, religion, or culture. It comes from ignorance and fear brought on by stereotypes.  The thing is we are not born racist. It’s not in our genes. It comes from our views and beliefs that develop as we grow up. We can be influenced by friends, family, newspapers, and society in general. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable. But it’s not! Prejudice of any kind is usually based on ignorance and fear. Often people have opinions on things they know nothing about, and that includes on people, religions and cultures .
The aim and message of our campaign The AIM: It aims to raise awareness of racist attitudes and highlight its negative impact, to make the world no place for racism. The MESSAGE: the message is that “ Under our skin we all bleed red” no matter what race we are, religion, sex we all are equally the same.
Why we chose the topic We chose to do racism so we can persuade and advice people to stop racism because we all are God’s creation and we should love one another and learn to live peacefully in the same society. So we came up with our own campaign of Racism:
Our posters. Ruth: As you can see in the picture, it shows two different race battling against each other head to head and at the bottom there are two fists holding each other hands with the slogan written in blood “ Under our skin we all bleed red” The logo is different races holding each other hands. Edna: The poster is to show that although we have different colour skins we have the same features on our faces. Making us all equal. The second poster is about a girl who got bullied in school because of her race. This then made her fell that she should be a different race. But under our skin we all bleed red ... Loveline: it shows the effect of racism involving both the victim and perpetrator in this poster . It shows the victim hanged and the perpetrator was shocked that his words affected his victim therefore reacted with a guilty expression while the victim was bleeding out his sorrow and sadness.
We are going to achieve our aim by … There is no viable solution to stopping racism because you cannot force people what to think, but we can try to:
