All these conventions adds to the suspense of the horror trailer which is typical within the horror genre.

  • The Womenin Black follows typical conventions of a horror trailer with scarey/eerie music and taking the idea of innocent children and manipulating them into being something feared which is common in the horror genre. There is a lot of darkness involved in the settings and a supernatural being to make the audience scared of the unknown. There is fast pace action towards the end showing another typical convention of a horror trailer, also the use of the nursery rhyme to make it more eerie because most nursery rhymes are about death for example, ‘Ring A Round A Roses’ is about the plague.

  • The Hauntingin Connecticut 2 follows most typical conventions of a horror trailer. Such as using children, supernatural beings, darkness, settings of the woods etc. These are all typical of the horror genre to scare the target audience however the start of the trailer is almost like any normal family fun loving trailer, this is because of the non diegtic banjo music at the start of the trailer which may confuse the audience as to what genre the film is. The target audience may be turned away from the film.
