ZACS COMPANY 2
“Come and knock on our door. We've been waiting for you. Where the kisses are hers
and hers and his, three's company too” (Lyrics Mode, (n.d.).). You know this song, you have
seen the show this is a theme from. Three’s Company was a popular television series airing on
American Broadcasting Company from 1978 to 1984. Nostalgia is one thing that millennials
love, so they are what we are going to go after with this remake. Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza and
Brittany Snow as Jack, Janet and Chrissy. I would be great to make it a movie instead of another
television show. We should get Zac Efron because he is very popular among millennials, we can
use social media for marketing and media and we will modernize the concept.
Zac Efron started out with small roles and his first big role was Troy Bolton in the High
School Musical franchise. After that he was Link Larkin in the remake of Hairspray, but didn’t
want to be pigeon holed into the same parts so he turned down a part in the remake of
Footloose. He has had some misses in the movie department but quite a few more hits. Most
recently he went back to his musical roots and stared as Phillip Carlyle in The Greatest
Showman (IMBD, 2018). He will bring his loyal fans, ones following him since the High School
Musical days. He will also bring his hard-working attitude to the movie, like in Name: Efron, Zac
Mission: Full-body Transformation from Men’s Health, Zac said:
“But there's something about me that's always searching for the more challenging
route, and the actors that I really admire are always picking things out of their comfort
zones, trying to stretch to see where they can go. It just seems like the road less
traveled.” (Vrabel, 2012).
I believe he will definitely show that he can work hard on this project along with bringing the
fan base of millennials to the movie.
ZACS COMPANY 3
Using social media like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can reach so many millennials
with them using it so much. According to Cummings, thirty-four percent of moviegoers in 2014
were millennials. And even when they are told before the movie to not use their phones, over
half of millennials do use it for social media. Being recommended on social media helped thirty
percent of millennials to go to a certain movie. And ninety percent of millennials go off of what
their family and friends say about movies (2016). Using social media would be a great way to
market to millennials.
In order to deal with everyday life and everyday culture I would want to modernize the
concepts of Three’s Company into things that apply to life today. To modernize it would make it
easier for millennials to relate to the movie. I feel as though some of the experiences of the
original series is outdated. But there are a lot of things in the original series that aren’t that
different than what we go through today. Also modernizing the wardrobe, furniture and
decorations would help get it more like today. We can help get everyday culture and life into
the movie by modernizing the concepts of the television series.
I hope that the audience would take away that people are kind and generous and want
to see the good within others. If the movie is anything like the television show these should
really show. In the show, they show each one of these things. By being roommates with people
you’ve never met shows generosity. They would show kindness throughout the movie with just
being nice to each other even when they get on each other’s nerves. And seeing the good
within others would be able to be seen with showing how they love each other. Also making
people laugh with the physical comedy and jokes.
ZACS COMPANY 4
Three’s Company as a movie would be great with actors like Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza and
Brittany Snow. Zac would bring his loyal fans and so would the other two. We would make it so
that people can relate to this movie by modernizing Three’s Company with things that
millennials go through on a daily basis. Hopefully the audience of millennials would see that
there is kindness, generosity and good within other people through this movie. Here’s hoping
that we can make this and make this great! “You'll see that life is a ball again and laughter is
calling for you. Down at our rendezvous, three is company, too.” (Lyrics Mode, (n.d.).).
