WHO ARE FORENSIC SCIENTISTS?
Forensic scientists collect, preserve, and analyze scientific evidence during the course
of an investigation. While some forensic scientists travel to the scene of the crime to
collect the evidence themselves, others occupy a laboratory role, performing analysis
on objects brought to them by other individuals.[2] Still others are involved in analysis
of financial, banking, or other numerical data for use in financial crime investigation,
and can be employed as consultants from private firms, academia, or as government
employees.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO BE A FORENSIC SCIENTIST
The first step is to be established as a forensic expert is to opt for a
bachelor's degree followed by a master's degree in forensic science.
Some of these courses include BSc forensic science, MSc forensic
science among other degrees.
ROLE OF FORENSIC SCIENTISTS IN CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION
Forensic evidence proves the scene of the crime. Forensic study finds
out the modus operandi of the offender. ... During an investigation,
evidence is collected at a crime scene or from a person, analyzed in a
crime laboratory and then the results presented in court.
ROLE OF FORENSIC SCIENTISTS IN LABORATORY
• They are multidisciplinary
science and technological
institutions undertaking highly
specialized and sophisticated
scientific work in the service of
crime detection, law and justice.
• Forensic scientists play the very
crucial role in such institutions
