- 2. As a young boy Roy drew and painted, but his school did not offer art classes.
- 3. Lichtenstein went to Ohio State University where he earned a degree in fine arts. After graduating, Roy taught art classes there.
- 4. In 1961, Lichtenstein created his first Pop Art painting.
- 5. He began his first pop art paintings using cartoon images.
- 6. This painting came from a challenge. His son pointed to a comic book and said,"I bet you can't paint as good as that, eh, Dad?"
- 7. He liked the way commercial art looked and he liked the sharp, black outlines in comic book art.
