Sarojini Naidu was an Indian political activist, feminist, and poet born in 1879 in Hyderabad. She was known as the "Nightingale of India" and worked to gain independence for India from British rule. She served as the president of the Indian National Congress in 1925 and wrote poetry inspired by Indian culture and nationalism. Her poem "Song of a Dream" describes standing in a magical wood in her dreams where the spirits of truth appeared as singing birds, love as glowing stars, and peace as flowing streams.
