Reflection to the word self-esteem
Self-Esteem Synonyms:
• Self-worth
• Self-respect
• Self-value
Self-esteem is how much you
value yourself and how important
you think you are. It's how you see
yourself and how you feel about
the things you can do.
What is Self – esteem?
It’s about getting to know what you are
good at and not so good at
It's not about thinking you're perfect,
because nobody is perfect.
Even if you think some other kids are
good at everything, you can be sure
they have things they're good at and
things that are difficult for them.
The most important thing to know
about self-esteem is that it means
seeing yourself in a positive way
that's realistic, which means that it's
the truth. So if you know you're really
good at piano but can't draw so well,
you can still have great self-esteem!
What are you good at doing? Playing a certain
game? Making your bed? Making your mom smile?
Things that you are good at doing are called your
talents.
What are your talents?
For example, you might be talented in the way you
take good care of your pet.
• Knowing that you have a talent or are good at
doing something makes you feel good.
• That good feeling is part of your self-esteem, or
the way you feel about yourself.
• A talent can make you have such good self-esteem
that it can give you courage to try new things and
to make good choices.
