Lever A Lever is a simple machine that is a bar on a fixed point to lift heavy objects with ease. The fulcrum is located where the two pieces meet and the effort is you and the load is the sharp part. A door handle is a lever because the fulcrum is located where the door and the handle meet and when you applied effort to the handle it lifts the load on the inside of the door which causes the door to open.
Pulley A pulley is a wheel with a grooved rim that a pulled rope or chain can run to change the direction of the pull that lifts a load. Shoe laces are an example of a pulley because the lace move through the wholes and tightens the shoe. Blinds are pulleys because they lower and rise when the string is pulled up and down.
Incline Plan A inclined plan is like a ramp in which it is raised at a level so that loads can be slid or rolled up. An example of an inclined plan is a wheel chair ramp. Stairs are another example of an inclined plan. This helps people get from one level to another.
Wheel and Axle Is a axle which a wheel is fastened so that when the axle is pushed a rope or chain is pulled up to the axle or a object with wheels to move something from one place to another. An example is a chair with wheels on it, to move someone from one side of the room to another. Roller blades are wheel and axle because they let people roll around from places to places.
Wedge Is something that cuts or divides something. A knife is a wedge because it cuts through food A fort is a wedge because is separates food apart when it is inserted.
Screw A screw is a inclined plan that raps around itself and it is used to raise and lower objects and it also tightens thingy. The screws on a door hinge keep the door attached to the wall so that it opens and closes. A lid of a jar is a screw because it screws on and off to close the jar and open it.
Complicated Machines A complicate machine is two or more machines combine. A stapler is a complicate machine because it is a wedge and a lever. The lever is the top black parts and the wedge part is when the staples come out. A can opener is a lever, wedge, and a wheel and axle. The lever is the handles and the wheel and axle is the knob, and the wedge is the thing that cuts open the can.
