• A smart card, chip card, or integrated circuit card
(ICC) is a physical electronic authorization device,
used to control access to a resource. It is typically a
plastic credit card-sized card with an embedded
integrated circuit (IC) chip
• Smart cards can provide personal identification,
authentication, data storage, and application
processing.[

tradional plastic card
• Data is retrieved from a smart card chip using a reader
that is a part of a terminal
• Examples of terminals include point of sale

7. SMART CARD IN E COMMERCE
• Smart card is again similar to a credit card or a debit
card in appearance, but it has a small microprocessor
chip embedded in it.
• It has the capacity to store a customer's work-related
and/or personal information.
• Smart cards are also used to store money and the
amount gets deducted after every transaction

• Your smart card number is the 10 digit number on the
far right on smart card row.
• Always ensure the smart card is inserted and that the
decoder is on at the time of making payment
