WHY SMART VEHICLES USING IOT?
• Recent survey says, India is the largest two wheeler market in the world, with sales
close to 17.7 million two wheelers in the year 2016, with 48,000 units sold every day.
China is the second largest market for two wheelers. Followed by Pakistan, Vietnam,
Indonesia, Taiwan and other Asian countries. With more number of bikes on road,
comes the risk of theft.
• According to the report published by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in
the year 2016 alone 211,844 two wheeler vehicles were stolen in India. Out of which
only 46,436 vehicles were recovered, which means 78% of the vehicles were
unrecovered (this is on the rise when compared to reports from 2010 to 2015).
WHAT IS SMART VEHICLES USING IOT?
• A smart vehicle security system using IoT is used for accessing and controlling
vehicles remotely using a smart phone.
• This smart system is created to provide vehicle information such as position, time,
and alarm informed to the owner of the vehicle by either using Short Message
Service (SMS) or using mobile application. The com- bination of the above
technologies can be used synergistically as a smart vehicle security key to control a
vehicle (lock or unlock one’s vehicle with the help of SMS/app) from remote
locations.

FEATURES
HARDWARE DESIGN
• The design uses Microcontroller with leading wireless and AV technologies to bring
live streaming capabilities of audio and video data over Wi-Fi.
• Supports capture and streaming of: – Video - 720p @ 15FPS
– Audio PCM, 16bps @ 11025Hz
• Supports RTP/RTSP protocols
• SimpleLinkTM Wi-Fi connectivity over 802.11 b/g/n
networks
• Inbuilt provisioning for easy commissioning of the device to a Wi-Fi network
• Advanced Low-Power Modes
EMBEDDED SOFTWARE DESIGN
The main functionality of the embedded software will be to
• Boot up the device and be ready to sense the motion
• Detect motion, and upon motion detection, enable the video camera to capture the live video/audio
• Be able to stream to the live video to configured cloud streaming server via RTP protocol in conjunction with
RTSP/RTCP
• Keep sending device heart beat every 15 minutes to the cloud, via MQTT
• Be able to live stream on user request
• Be able to firmware download and upgrade remotely.
• The cloud will push the latest firmware upgrades to the respective devices and device should be able to upgrade
remotely.
