Evaluation
When I decided which advert I was going to use to remake the soundtrack to, I had a very
good concept to how I wanted it to sound, and what structure I wanted it to be, I had a very
specific idea of what sounds, instruments and voices I wanted to complete my vision of the
advert, as the beginning of the advert is slow paced and peaceful, I wanted the music to start
of very slow and fairly quiet, and then when the action began I wanted the music to sound
very dramatic, triumphant and motivating like a marching band, which is why I added drums
and horns. This is because I wanted my soundtrack to match the purpose of the advert and
appeal to as many people as possible as I had a very big target audience, which meant I
couldn’t do something to youth orientated or too mature.
I made my tack using Cubase and a Midi keyboard, I played a few a few keys and created a
rhythm that I recorded and used as a base for the entire project.I would then add more
instruments on top of this piano rhythm, such as bass, drum kits, 808 and trumpets, (the
picture below shows me making the melody for the soundtrack and highlighted in red is the
keys of the melody).
After successfully perfecting the soundtrack for my advert I moved onto downloading the
sound effects, I decided to download my sound effects from a copyright free website, as it
was impossible for me to record the sound effects at the quality I wanted them as I didn’t
have enough people, or high quality enough equipment.
Below in the highlighted box's you can see the website I downloaded my sound effects from.
The final step of my project was to add narration; this was to give more detail into what was
happening in the advert for general purposes and as audio description for the visually
impaired individuals. Highlighted in red is where I placed the narration of the advert
In conclusion, I feel that my project went really well. I finished
before my deadlines and I completed my project to what I
think is a professional standard.
