   Often isthe case in media, that genders are presented as having certain traits just because of their sex. This may be particularly present within television programs; it is often the case that men may be presented as the characters within positions of power and generally be more successful in their endeavours. It may also be the case that women are usually being presented as less successful and in positions of less power.  This is becoming less apparent in today’s media, however it is still a very present topic within television programs and movies. Gender This observation is true for the first season of the walking dead. Within this season the main characters wife, is constantly being presented as someone that always needs to be saved and cannot fend for herself.

   Within mediatexts, characters can sometimes have certain traits assigned to them just because they are categorised as being within a certain group of ages.  For example old people can be represented as boring but also characters to be respected. Younger characters, for example, as a teenager, can be represented as mischievous or unruly. Age

   Within mediatexts characters can have traits assigned to them, just because of their background or where they originate from.  An example of this can be that Asian people are represented as smart and clever, whereas with people from Ethnicity

   Within mediatexts, characters can sometimes have certain traits assigned to them just because of their sexual orientation  For example a homosexual man, would usually be represented as being very camp, whereas a heterosexual man would be given characteristics that make him, ‘manly’. Sexuality

   This isa label which is given to people because of where they come from within a country. For example, in the UK it is stereotypical to assume that people from Scotland are all drunk and very angry people. Regional identity

For example it would be stereotypical to assume that working class people are not very well educated and that upper-middle and upper class people are all stuck up and think less of everyone else.
