• Describes the basic framework of a business, the
method of doing business by which a company can
generate revenue to sustain itself.
• A business model identifies
– mkt segment that is being served (WHO)
– service that is being provided (WHAT)
– means by which the service is produced (HOW)
– And how the firm plans to make money over the longer
term using the Internet
• A firm’s business model also describes how the
organization is positioned in the industry value
chain
