Tata Steel Limited is an Indian multinational steel company and the second largest steel producer in India. It was founded in 1907 as Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited (TISCO) by Dorabji Tata to set up India's first integrated private sector steel plant in Jamshedpur. Tata Steel has manufacturing operations in 26 countries and employs over 80,500 people worldwide, making it the 12th largest steel producer globally. It remains headquartered in Mumbai, India and celebrated 100 years of steelmaking in India in 2012.
