and intellectually stimulating task. The difficulty lies in the need to carefully select relevant
elements for comparison, ensuring a balanced and insightful exploration of the chosen subjects.
The process involves a deep understanding of the topics to be compared, as well as the ability to
discern meaningful connections and differences between them.
To start with, one must invest time in thorough research to gather substantial information on each
subject. This demands not only a grasp of the surface-level details but also an appreciation for
the nuances that make each entity unique. Compiling this data is a meticulous process that
requires critical thinking and analytical skills.
Next comes the challenge of structuring the essay in a coherent manner. Arranging the
information logically, while maintaining a flow that engages the reader, is crucial. The writer
must decide on a suitable organizational pattern, be it a point-by-point comparison or a subject-
by-subject approach, each with its own set of challenges.
Furthermore, the task involves striking a balance between highlighting similarities and
differences. It requires finesse to present the information in a way that fosters a deeper
understanding of the subjects being compared. Clarity in expression, coupled with a focus on
key points, is essential to avoid confusion and ensure that the essay effectively communicates
the intended message.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Things To Compare And Contrast" demands a
combination of research, critical thinking, and organizational skills. It requires the writer to delve
into the intricacies of each subject, carefully analyze their features, and present a compelling

The children s story, Rikki Tikki Tavi is from the Jungle Books, Volume 2, by
Rudyard Kipling. The story is about a mongoose that got washed up and was found
by a little boy named Teddy. The little boy and his family had a garden where two
cobras lived. Throughout the story Rikki Tikki Tavi tries to fight the cobras to keep
them from hurting the people that live there. At certain times Rikki Tikki behaved in
a manner toward other animals that was disrespectful and not like his normal
character. During the nights Rikki Tikki would do a walk around the house. One
night he found a muskrat named Chuchundra. The both of them talked and at one

The Recording Of Sound Recorded By Edouard Leon Scott
De...
Since its infancy during the nineteenth century, the art of sound recording has been
profoundly affected in countless ways by inventors, scientists, and sound engineers.
From the invention of the phonograph to the computers of today, they have all made
contributions to the foundation of sound recording. Going forward, technologists in
today s computer age are becoming more and more creative. There has even been
proof that some researchers have had a hand in altering the course of history. With
that in mind, the following questions need to be addressed:
How was the recording of sound discovered?
What technologies were implemented to improve the science?
How has today s digital age affected sound recording?
Was history really altered?
Is there any debate?
How was the recording of sound discovered?
According to history, the first sound was recorded mechanically by Г‰douard
LГ©on Scott de Martinville (de Martinville) in 1857 on a machine called the
phonautograph (and). His device would record sound by using a vibrating
membrane that was attached to a pen (stylus) which drew a line in correspondence
to sound waves onto a smoked paper roll attached to a rotating drum (and). The
sounds were generated by vibrating diaphragm and a series of levers that moved
the diaphragm from side to side (and). Even though de Martinville was able to
duplicate sound, his machine was not able to play it back right after it was recorded
(and). He made his machine this way because his intensions

Pursuing Pediatrics
Pursuing Pediatrics
Countless high school students aspire to become neurologists or surgeons, but tend to
disregard the incredibly rewarding and memorable experiences that Pediatrics
presents. Pediatrics focuses on solving issues that pertain to children, and attempt to
solve these problems using critical thinking developed over decades of training and
education. For those who wish to follow the medical route and make an impression
on the younger generations, pediatrics is a wise, fulfilling life choice.
As a pediatrician, one will work with children and address the variety of issues they

Becoming a pediatrician typically requires at least 3 8 years of residency training
in pediatrics, along with the four years required to achieve a bachelor s degree
(How to Become a Pediatric Doctor: Education and Career Roadmap.). To even begin
one s journey into pediatrics however, one must pass the MCAT, a nightmarish
medical school entrance examination assessment, and after multiple years of training,
an anxiety inducing final examination. Another crucial factor in becoming a
pediatrician is the huge cost of tuition, as the combined cost adds up to 300,000 to
500,000 thousand (Becoming a Pediatrician: THE BOTTOM LINE). However,
during residency training, you receive annual incomes up to 45,000 a year, covering
living expenses for the time being and enough income for splurging. Pursuing a career
in pediatrics requires extensive education, internship, and a small fortune, but its
rewards far outshine its apparent
Consequences Of Prejudice
To Kill a Mockingbird: The Physical Effects Of Prejudice The consequences of
prejudice can be to the biggest or to the smallest extent as seen in the classic, To
Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Although prejudice effects all people differently,
the characters throughout the novel experience the uniting commonality of being
considered outcasts in their society. This is depicted through Harper s writing when
Dolphus Raymond is victimized due to his actions, Boo Radley s reputation
becomes forever tarnished and Atticus is besmirched by the citizens of Maycomb.

and insane human being. For instance, when Scout recalls that Any small crimes

on a regular basis, prejudice concerning him could always be heard around the
town whether it was a warning or a myth. Due to the amount of prejudice Boo
faces, he decides it is best to stay isolated from the people in Maycomb. The reader

of prejudice, Boo s reputation has been tarnished, he could never be trusted to come
back into Maycomb again. Due to all the negative opinions surrounding him, he is
no longer looked at as a member of society, but as an outcast who will forever be

in keeping its brand value. In fact, Starbucks prides itself in its brand, particularly
the power it has to keep its customer base strong. Before analyzing this loyal
customer base it is best to consider the particular characteristics of the brand that has
led to Starbucks having such devoted patrons. First, Starbucks believes that the
quality of its coffee products always needs to be perfect. Starbucks took quality
control to a new level. When the freshness of coffee bean shipments is in question,
Starbucks donates those beans to charity by the thousands of pounds. In addition to

Even though the employees and manager have a partial responsibility for delivery
of a malfunctioning espresso machine, Dorosin s request was unreasonable.
Replacing his malfunctioning Vapore machine with a much higher quality
machine seems like a stretch. The higher quality machine, which Dorosin
requested, costs $495 retail. Instead, Starbucks should offer Mr. Dorosin the price
difference in a gift card. With a gift card for the price difference between his
Vapore machine and the higher quality machine, Starbucks is displaying goodwill
toward Mr. Dorosin while hopefully maintaining him as a customer.
Recommendations Starbucks regional manager should send a signed, written
apology to Jeremy Dorosin on company letterhead (see Exhibit 1). An apology
letter will not only comply with Mr. Dorosin s request but it shows Starbucks
culpability in what occurred. Since the employee involved in Mr. Dorosin s
negative experience was not displaying the traits of a model Starbucks barista (see
Exhibit 3), the employee should be retrained. The other employees and the manager
of the store involved should also be required to go through retraining courses in
order to not only show why what they did was wrong but how to behave in the
future. One facet of the retraining should involve role playing (see Exhibit 4) in order
to better understand real life situations. In following these recommendations along
with the gift card and machine repairs, Starbucks should be
Comparing Cave Prisoners And Neo Leaving The Matrix

cave dwellers escaping the cave, and Neo leaving the matrix. As the prisoners are

analysis, and impact/importance that has made Dennis Rodman the man he is

was one of the unfortunate ones. However, his background shows that being one
of the unfortunates turns into one of the fortunate. Denis Rodman was born May
13, 1961, in Trenton, New Jersey but he mostly spent most of his life in Dallas s
infamous Oak Cliff housing projects. In his early life, his father Philander Rodman
abandoned him and his family when he was five. His mother Shirley Rodman

sibling of many brothers and sisters, Rodman grew up not knowing for sure how
many there were. According to Rodman s father, he has either 26 or 28 siblings that
he knew of from four different women, however; Rodman himself has stated that he

Hate Is The Main Reason For Violence In Our Culture
Hate is the main reason for violence in our culture. The reason being is because
hate drives the people to cause trouble and make our culture as violent as it is right
now. Not only that, but things such as cops killing for no reason and recently
terrorist attacks is making it worst every single day. It doesn t even have to be a huge
thing, things such as robberies, muggings, and rapes are things that don t get much
attention but are huge impacts in adding more violencein our culture. While groups of
people are trying to spread this to be more known and try to spread happiness while
trying to give out positivity as well, the amount doesn t add up to the bad in this

Why America Should Accept More Refugees
There are also legal reasons why countries such as the United States of America
should accept more refugees. The article Armed Conflict and Forced Migration: A
Systemic Approach to International Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law, and Human
Rights Law by Vincent Chetail states that humanitarian law and refugeelaw appear to
be relatively indifferent to the specific needs of refugees in war, from war and in
post war contexts. Due to this lack in the ability of humanitarian law and refugee law
to provide what is necessary for refugees fleeing conflict, international human rights
law must instead pick up the slack and therefore must be respected and known by
lawyers assisting refugees. Despite the differences between the different types of law,

Citizens also fear that refugees might take their jobs, but research says that
unemployment doesn t increase and that the presence of refugees can actually
generate jobs and increase wages. Citizens may also fear tax increases due to the
financial burden of supporting refugees, but in countries such as Turkey, this burden
has been shown to be sustainable. Even given this information, taking in a large
influx of refugees would not be easy, but thriving and stable countries would be able
to handle the burden. There are numerous other articles that support this position as
well, such as Alexander Betts, Louise Bloom, Josiah Kaplan, and Naohiko Omata s
article Refugee Economies: Rethinking Popular Assumptions. The article examines
many popular myths about refugees such as the assumptions that refugees are
economically isolated, a burden, economically homogenous, technologically illiterate,
and dependent. As for the first assumption, they found that rather than being
economically isolated, refugees participate in the global economy. They found
similar results when it came to determining the validity of every myth. Refugees
enrich economies rather than deplete them, are economically diverse, are
technologically capable, and are able to be self reliant. The goal is

One of the reasons is that Chinese IPO markets are known to be extremely
underpriced and as a result China ranks first among 45 countries with respect to
IPO underpricing. Guo et al. (2011) also suggested that there is a great number of
optimistic investors waiting for high initial day returns despise the greatly reduced
potential benefit from IPOs, nevertheless they are still thought to be highly
profitable. Lastly, during the last decade or so the IPO market in China has
developed and maintained a good track record for profits. Consequently, the China
example is encouraging to support the investors desire to launch XYZ Construction,
Inc. IPO, which as aforementioned may very well benefit from an underpriced IPO
market. Additionally, it is prudent to point out that there are expenses associated
with an IPO yet these are worth in the long run. As suggested by Booth (2011.)
Underpricing comes at the expense of the original owners and venture capitalists of
the issuing firm (Booth, 2011, p. 4). However, there is a general tendency that
investors do not sell their shares after the lockup period expires, nevertheless,
underpricing will be considered a predictable cost of going public (Booth, 2011).
Lastly, XYZ Construction, Inc. stakeholders should realize encouraging results as
capital is generated while simultaneously growing the market capital in both domestic
and international markets.

The State Of Utopi A Continuity Of Operations Plan
Introduction. The State of Utopia has determined to develop a Continuity of
Operations Plan (COOP) that incorporates all of the key state governmental
functions. The National Guard (NG) being one of these key organizations has been
tasked to develop and coordinate their own plan and ensure it nests correctly within
the stateplan. The Adjutant General of Utopia has ordered that the Joint Staff produce
a COOP that relocates the affected units to an alternate site, accounts for and protects
all personnel and equipment, and maintains mission command capabilities. We must
maintain the ability to quickly generate ready forces to safeguard Utopia and protect
the nation while adding value to our communities. The National Guard of Utopia is
made up of approximately 2,000 Army NG (ARNG) members, 1,500 Air NG (ANG)
members, and 150 state employees spread across 24 different campuses statewide.
The National Guard also services approximately 4,500 veterans throughout the state.
The problem. The National Guard has a Pandemic Influenza (PI) Continuity of
Operations Plan, but it does not have a COOP plan that covers an all hazard
approach. Even though there is a PI COOP, it was written in 2009 and at best has
been minimally exercised which included one TTX and a drill on a small portion of
the entire plan. Since then there has been little emphasis placed on developing an all
hazards COOP.
The objective. To have an effective all hazards COOP for the Utopia NG that nests

It shows who is responsible for what and identifies the authority that each responder

The command and control of the plan starts with the County Executive as the lawful
person authorized to declare an emergency. The County Executive is supported by
four groups Executive Policy Group, Disaster Advisory Team, Emergency
Management Office Staff and Operations Group ( St Louis County BEOP, 2013).
The plan includes a line of secession that takes into account the County Executive
not being available or if he/she becomes incapacitated for any reason. This line of
secession is an element that is extremely important for the continuity of any plan.
Establishing the line of secession within a plan allows for everyone to be informed
of who is in line if something happens and what provisions are required for the
assumption of duties if the senior official becomes unavailable (FEMA, n.d.).

Simple: We repeal it. Just get it out of here. Turn the NSA Data Center in Utah into
giant indoor mini golf complex. It will become the only reason non Mormons visit
Utah. Secondly, we need a new amendment guaranteeing our right to privacy.
A.As Oliver Diggelmann and Maria Nicole Cleis wrote in a 2014 article published in
the Human Rights Law Review, the right to privacy has two distinct meanings:
privacy as freedom from society and privacy as dignity.
1.Both of these would be protected under the umbrella idea of the right to privacy
amendment.
B.However, in a 2015 article in Philosophy Public Affairs, Andrei Marmor asserts that
the right to privacy, while being a necessary human right, would not clear cut.
1.Which brings up the question: Do we want this amendment to be that broad?
2.In which, the answer is: Yes. We are Americans. We liked our constitutional
amendments to be confusingly open ended.
3.More importantly I want this amendment to be so broad that literally nothing
impedes on privacy gets passed.
Proposal: The USA PATRIOT Actis a horrendous abuse of governmental power that
violates rights usually guaranteed to American citizens. This act should be repealed
and, additionally, elected officials should move to amend the U.S. Constitution to

A Streetcar Named Desire Monologue
Miss Blanche sama! Are you alright? one of our house maids had busted open the
door, still in her nightwear. Y yeah, I m fine. Just a nightmare. I replied laughing
awkwardly. But deep down inside I was probably distressed as the maid was. I had
just remembered my past life, and died of my own stupidity. How embarrassing! I
could picture my parents nodding their head in shame, if they found out I was
chasing a stupid fat neko. A and my fans! What would they do without fans! For
god sake I was still a tender virgin, living the life of a successful independent
woman! I wanted to cry so badly. But, then my mother came in, with her sleeping
mask over her head, and her hair in tight hair curlers. Saphro, what s with this

The Effects Of Water Quality On The Reedy Fork Creek
And...
Descriptive Statistics
The spatiotemporal pattern of water quality in the Reedy Fork and Buffalo Creek
watersheds exhibits a trend of river deterioration, mainly due to Fecal Coliform. Our
study suggests that most of the pollution sources were related to human activities.
Looking at table 2a to 5b, it is clear that, F.Col, coliform is the dominant parameter
with the highest means in all the sites, both at the Reedy Fork and Buffalo Creek
watersheds. However, there are higher mean values of this nutrient in the Buffalo
Creek watershed than the Reedy Fork creek watershed. This is clearly visible by
looking at the variation in mean variable concentrations for the individual sites
through the years under study from the graphs.
In comparison to the States Standards in table 10, Fecal Coliform for sites 7, 8, 9, 12,
17, and 18, all in the urbanize Buffalo Creek watershed have mean values of 1613.95,
1189.52, 2447.38, 3167.71, 1410.86, 1178.30 CFU/100ml respectively which are
within the states watch zone for the 1999 to 2002 parameters. Subsequently, above
normal levels were recorded for Buffalo Creek Watershed sites 9, 12, 15, 18 for 2003

Emotion Regulation in Infants Essay
Emotion regulation involves intrinsic and extrinsic processing of monitoring and
modifying emotional reactions in both positive or negative situations (Martins, 2012).
In order for individuals to have the ability to regulate emotions, they must beware of
their emotions. Although infants are unaware and lack the ability to regulate their
emotions, it then becomes the role of a primary carer to nurture the infant, thus acting
as a model for regulating emotions. Evidently, infants grow to reflect the ways in
which their carers control and modify their emotions as well as social boundaries.
Furthermore, emotionregulationis considered an important aspect of an individuals
life as it can moderate emotions and keep them in a manageable range... Show more

What is emotion regulation in infants 0 4?
The regulation of emotions within adults is considerably more complex than within
an infant. However, this does not mean that infants do not share the same feelings as
adults do. Infant emotion regulation is evidently derived from their primary carers.
Empirical research supports idea as stated by Diener (et al, 2002) whereby the study
conducted involved infants completing a strange situations procedure, this explored
the connection between mother infant relationship and the behavioural strategies
used by infants for emotion regulation. Therefore, behavioural strategies used by
infants including self soothing, withdrawal and self distraction with objects is when
it is clear that infants have the ability to control and monitor their emotions (Martins,
2012; Diener et al., 2002). These strategies are supported through various studies
conducted by Martins (2012) as they explore infants who are able to cope with their
emotions obtain certain strategies which contribute to their ability to regulate their
behaviour for example using distractions. Evidently, this shows the development of
infant emotion regulation skills (Diener et al, 2002). Moreover, infants experience a
range of emotions in numerous frustrating situations, including some as simple as
waiting to be fed or sitting in a car seat waiting to go out. It is from this that infants
become more aware of their emotions and begin to find ways of coping
Three Types Of Linear And Planar Structured Donor ( D )...
Three types of linear and planar structured donor (D) acceptor (A) type alternating
copolymers were synthesized by incorporating intrachain noncovalent Coulomb
interactions, based on 2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4
bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene and benzothiadiazole (BT) moieties. The chain
linearity and systematic adjustment of interchain organization was achieved by the
incorporation of different number of electronegative fluorine atoms onto BT, which
significantly affected the frontier energy levels, film morphology, and the resulting
charge transport properties. Bimodal semi crystalline orientation and charge carrier
transport properties were studied by grazing incidence wide angle X ray scattering
(GIWAXS) and polymerfiled effect transistor (PFET) characteristics measurements.
The hole mobility as high as 0.1 cm2/Vs in PFET was measured for poly(2,5
bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene alt 4,7 (5,6 difluoro
2,1,3 benzothiadiazole)) (PPDTT2FBT), suggesting a strong self organization in the
linear configuration with conformation lock with the help of fluorine atoms. The
linear and difluorinated PPDTT2FT also showed the highest power conversion
efficiency (PCE, 6.4%) by blending with PC71BM, but showed a poorer photovoltaic
performance compared to the wavy structured counterpart, PPDT2FBT, reported
previously. The mainly edge on orientation of PPDTT2FT and poor blend film
morphology attributed to the moderate PCE in the blends. Fine modulation
Comparing The Fable Tortoise And The Geese

the information in your text. A fable is shorter than a tale. A fable is a brief often

illustrated a series of events in a summary without detailed descriptions of its
characters. 2. What lessons are taught in the first two fables ( Samarra and Tortoise )
Do you think they are still valid today? The lesson taught by the fable Death has an

Is The Mosquito Innocent Or Guilty
Is the mosquito innocent or guilty? The mosquito is innocent for three reasons.
One of those reasons is he told a lie to the iguana and he stormed off. Also it was
the monkey who killed the owlet. The last reason is the rabbit broke a law of the
jungle by running threw the jungle in mid day. The book tells us all of this. This is
why the mosquito is innocent. In the book it states that the mosquito told a lie to the
iguana, and it caused him to put sticks in his ears and storm off. The iguana should
have just ignored him instead. If the iguana would not have done this the owlet
would not have been killed. Also if the iguana would not have put the sticks in his
ears he would not have scared the snake. The iguana is the one who is guilty. He
The Feminine Mystique Summary
In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental
notion of the mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men
in society. To further explain this notion, she makes use of several different
rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she establishes a connection between the
dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus men working on
assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of
alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived
ideas about genderroles. Moreover, she makes use of logos, when she provides her
readers with statistics about how Women constituted nearly half of the professional
workforce;
Absolute Monarchy In The 17th Century Essay
Absolute Monarchy during the 17th Century During the seventeenth century, France
and England experienced many conflicts that resulted in public unrest. Absolute
monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a
king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute
monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. Kings
must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful
under absolute monarchy. In France, Louis XIV was the most successful absolute
monarch due to his stature and powerful involvement in the state. In England, an
effort was made by James I to control the state via absolute monarchy, but this was
unsuccessful as the parliament in England was already too powerful. Power and the
ability to command ministers play a crucial role in the success of an absolute
monarch. To be a great monarch, one must work for the state and for the people. As
Louis XIV said, I am the state , meaning that he controls the state and without him a
state does not exist. In general an absolute monarch must be aware of all activities
that take place in the state. He shall be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis XIV took hold of the country and put himself at the head of government. The
Estates General was never established, and most of the ministers and lords were
persuaded to live in Versailles, a city Louis built strictly for the union of

XIV. He prevented the establishment of large parliamentary bodies that would
challenge his power as in the case of England. Beyond this, Louis XIV had the
support from his people in France. As a result, Louis XIV pleased the people with
secure France and one that stood elite amongst other European countries like
The Pros And Cons Of Internet Censorship
In the modern society issues of discrimination, inequality, and violation of human
rights often arise. Pakistan and the United States are both an example of this act. For
instance, many countries censor the internet, but few of the many countries tell their
intentions as explicitly as Pakistan. Furthermore, President Trump may reshape
DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Program, which gave young
people who had come to the United Statesillegally as kids a chance to work and study
in the U.S. without the fear of deportation. Similarly, President Donald Trump and
former president Imran Khan had a similar political slogan for their campaign. For
example, Trump s campaign slogan was he will make America Great Again and Khan
s slogan was that he would Naya Pakistan which means build the entire country anew.
As a result, both want to attract the majority of the population by addressing the
popular sentiment. Both the United States and Pakistan are making their countrys
and citizens isolated; by Trump building the border wall and Khan and the
government censoring the internet, destroying knowledge and opportunities.
The internet is a powerful medium for news, books, information, and ideas. It has
become a brand new field for conflict about media freedom and censorship. For
example, the Pakistan Government recently published a public tender for the
development deployment and operation of a national level URL filtering and
blocking system (Sutton 1). As a result,

to help them battle the stigma and negative perception that some people have about

celebrities, mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc...that suit up. I think that showcasing
pictures of a member in their regular work clothes with Mother by day. and a picture
of them in costume Stormtrooper for the Empire by night. could help show the public
that our members are not penniless geeks who live in attics and basements.

Les Demoiselles D Avignon Matisse s Joy Of Life
Inspiration can be looked at in many different ways, some take pride in being the
original developer of a certain thing, whether it be art or a mechanical invention
but is anything ever purely original? One way or another we are inspired by others
and the things around us. Creating their own masterpieces, both Picasso s Les
Demoiselles d Avignon Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre (Joy of Life) were inspired by
Paul CГ©zanne s, The Large Bathers but made their own paintings great by not
binding their self to it but expressing their art differently.
The Large Bathers
This painting was not only Paul Cezanne s last, but is also considered to be his best
work. One of the most intriguing things about this painting was that it did not seem
to be completed when you take a close look. The unfinished nature of this painting
lives your imagination to be activated, allowing every single viewer to make the
painting more personal, to every individual or viewer of the painting.

Understand Physical Disability Outcome 1 1. Explain why it is important to
recognise and value an individual as a person A. It is important to recognise an
individual as a person as it is their human right to be seen as such. If an individual is
not seen as a person it devalues them and isolates them from everyday society
making them feel different . 2. Describe the importance of recognising an individual s
strengths and abilities A. Recognising a person s strengths and abilities encourages
independence and gives the person confidence in themselves. Encouragement to use
these strengths and abilities also gives the person a feeling of control over their own
lives which in turn encourages self belief and confidence.... Show more content on

This also means more disabled individuals are receiving work in television, for
example, such as jack osboune who has recently been diagnosed with MS. Also the
Paralympics was a huge success in Britain bringing attention to people s abilities
rather than disabilities. In the workplace, policies and procedures when applying
for a job in care such as CRB checks are mandatory, however CRB s do not give a
well rounded picture of the potential employee s opinions, so it is up to fellow staff
members to challenge them if they are deemed to be discriminatory against the
residents in their care. 4. Describe the impact of disability legislation on community
attitudes and practices A. Disability legislation increases the recognition of actively
involving individuals with a disability into community based projects and adapting
mainstream projects for the involvement of others with a disability. This encourages
inclusion for disabled individuals into the community and helps with other factors
such as disabled access for wheelchair users and individuals with impaired mobility
in the likes of schools and universities as well as local shops and community centres.
Encouraging inclusion of disabled individuals into the community normalizes
disability and encourages a positive
Philippine History
Philippine History Early History The Negritos are believed to have migrated to the
Philippines some 30,000 years ago from Borneo, Sumatra, and Malaya. The
Malayans followed in successive waves. These people belonged to a primitive epoch
of Malayan culture, which has apparently survived to this day among certain groups
such as the Igorots. The Malayan tribes that came later had more highly developed
material cultures. In the 14th cent. Arab traders from Malay and Borneo introduced
Islam into the southern islands and extended their influence as far north as Luzon.
The first Europeans to visit (1521) the Philippines were those in the Spanish
expedition around the world led by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

The Filipinos had also declared their independence and established a republic under
the first democratic constitution ever known in Asia. Their dreams of independence
were crushed when the Philippines were transferred from Spain to the United States
in the Treaty of Paris (1898), which closed the Spanish American War. In Feb.,
1899, Aguinaldo led a new revolt, this time against U.S. rule. Defeated on the
battlefield, the Filipinos turned to guerrilla warfare, and their subjugation became a
mammoth project for the United States one that cost far more money and took far
more lives than the Spanish American War. The insurrection was effectively ended
with the capture (1901) of Aguinaldo by Gen. Frederick Funston, but the question of
Philippine independence remained a burning issue in the politics of both the United
States and the islands. The matter was complicated by the growing economic ties
between the two countries. Although comparatively little American capital was
invested in island industries, U.S. trade bulked larger and larger until the
Philippines became almost entirely dependent upon the American market. Free
trade, established by an act of 1909, was expanded in 1913. When the Democrats
came into power in 1913, measures were taken to effect a smooth transition to self
rule. The Philippine assembly already had a popularly elected lower house, and the
Jones Act, passed by the U.S. Congress in 1916, provided for a
How Far Was the Provisional Government Responsible for
Its...
When the Provisional Government came into power Russia was in a state of
major unrest. Russia had just overthrown the Tsarist regime, which had been in
place for three hundred years and there were multiple groups who wanted to take
power for themselves such as Lenin s Bolsheviks, they were fighting in an endless
war and losing terribly, peasants where rebelling in the countryside and the people
were angered over food shortages. On top of all these problems the Provisional
Government was made up of members of the Duma who had no experience actually
being in charge or having power over anything let alone the biggest and most
culturally diverse country in the world. All these factors played a role in the
downfall of the Provisional Government but overall it was the Provisional
Government who played the biggest part in their own failure.
When started the Provisional Government was an interim government which was to
govern Russia until a new constitution was drawn up. But as soon as the
Provisional Government was put in charge it faced the immediate problem of
legitimacy. It was made up of members of the Duma and was dominated by
members of the Octoberist and Kadet parties, who were minorities with only one
radical member, Alexander Kerensky. This would give the Provisional Government
the problem of not truly representing the people. If it was made up of minorities how
can it represent the majority? The Provisional Government also faced the problem of

Quality Improvement in Nursing
Mary, a 79 year old patient has gotten up from bed without assistance to use the
restroom. She falls on the way and hits her head leaving her with a huge laceration
and possible subdural damage. This is the third fall this month on the unit; changes
must be made in order to address the policies to prevent falls. Policy changes are
one of the many issues that a quality improvement nurse will address in her field.
Nursing is a growing and evolving field that changes with new initiatives,
government regulations, and technology. There is great demand in the field and new
nurses are constantly called to meet the needs of patients. As the population of our
country ages, the number of nurses needed to meet these demands will increase. The
field of nursing does not just involve the direct care of patients. A number of careers

Improvement nursing is one career that can be obtained by a registered nurse that

policies and changes within the facility to improve patient care as well as lower
facility costs, increase patient safety, and increase nurse satisfaction. This career has
grown drastically in the last few decades due to health care reform acts, insurance
regulation changes, and advances in technology. The position of quality improvement
requires a unique set of skills and training, a higher salary matrix, as
What Does Josephine Baker Mean To Be Free Essay
Abraham Lincoln once said: Those who deny freedom to others deserve not for
themselves . In America during the 1960 s, there were a lot of people who would
consider themselves free, and that they lived in a first world country that was free

ideology caused the civil war. The industrial North was afraid that the agricultural
South would force America to become a slavery country. However, the South hoped

planning your organization s future, it s important to consider not just the goals,
objectives, and initiatives, but clearly how to accomplish them. The most important
contributor is undoubtedly your employees. Aligning the organization s business

Determine the key components of talent management, including identifying,
assessing, and developing talent. Talent management consist of six components that,
when implemented strategically, combine to keep an organization on the leading
edge. These components are: Strategic Employee Planning, Talent Acquisition and
Retention, Performance Management, Learning and Motivating, Career
Development, and Succession Planning. Strategic Employee Planning is the practice
of developing your organizational goals and strategic plan. It is also knowing how to
achieve your goals and implement the plan. Another responsibility of employee
planning is identifying the key roles and personnel who will assist you in attaining
them. Talent Acquisition and Retention is hiring new talent into your organization
and recognizing and cultivating talent you already have in the organization.
Promoting from within your organization is more cost effective and encourages
employee engagement and loyalty. Performance Management is when the right
person is aligned with the right role and position within the organization. Its end goal
is to make sure that roles align with your business strategy to achieve its goals. It
develops goals for success, supports employee development, and moves the
organization in a positive direction. Learning and Motivating sounds like two
components but they actually go hand in hand. Learning is

Characteristics Of Abnormal Behaviors In Parks And Rec
Abnormal behaviors are seen daily, especially in an Parks Department building in
Pawnee, Indiana. In the TV show Parks and Rec, a character by the name of Leslie
Knope displays a personality that one can identify as quirky and out of the ordinary.
Her behaviors can be analyzed as unusual, self defeating, socially unacceptable, and
causing personal distress. The times Leslie Knope has shown characteristics of being
unusual is numerous. In almost every episode of Parks and Recreation, Leslie portrays
a behavior that is out of the ordinary, and among a minority. An example of odd
behavior would be when Andy Dwyer, a coworker of Leslie, is having his leg casts
removed after falling into a pit. Leslie Knope is with him at the doctor s office,
and asks to keep the casts in her possession after a doctor removes them from Andy
s legs, believing that the casts were a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Another
display of unusualness is when Leslie decides to promote the Pawnee Zoo by
holding a marital ceremony for two penguins that are new to the zoo. In this
wedding, she talks for the penguins, and dresses them in bridal wear, even though
both of the penguins are male. After this causes some disruption in the town, she
proceeds to capture the penguins from the zoo in Indiana, locks them in car seats,
and drive them to a zoo in Iowa. The last display of unusualness is when Leslie is
trying to make up a story to a park ranger to explain what happened when someone
accidently got shot. She takes the blame for no apparent reason, and tries to come up
with a reasonable explanation on what happened. Rather than coming up with a
reason that actually makes sense, she goes on a tangent off random things that have
nothing to do with what the park ranger had asked her. Along with showing traits of
being unusual, Leslie also exemplifies abnormal psychologyby having self defeating
behavior. Leslie portrays this by being indecisive when it comes to making
decisions. In one episode, Leslie must decide between going to an important business
meeting at a restaurant, and going to a friends rock show at a bar. She decides to go
on the meeting, but spends the entire time talking about the rock show instead of
actually conversing about

outdoor pursuits. The sportswear market is driven by strong branding and globalised

Abnormal Behavior In Medieval Times
For hundreds of years, people have tried to understand the causes and treatments of
people who display abnormal behavior. The most popular belief in the Medieval
times was the idea that supernatural forces, such as demons and evil spirits, were the
cause of people with abnormal behavior (Nevid). Thus, their treatment of this was
often brutal, involving trephination and exorcisms. Although this belief was common
at the time, the ancient Greeks did not hold to this belief. Hippocrates theorized that
abnormal behaviors were due to illness of the body, and that the body s humors
determined ones behavior(Nevid). The belief that abnormal behavior is due to illness
in the body is most similar to the modern medical model. In the late 15th and early

The Color of Water is a book about a black man s tribute to his white mother. In this
book we journey through James McBride s life while he figures out who he is. As
we go through the book we learn more about james and his family past. Ruth james
mother was a jew her father was abusive did not care for the children the way a
father should. Ruth s mother was disabled but loved the kids and took care of
them as best as she could. As James gets older he wants to know more about where
he came from. He did not know much of his past as a result of his mother not
wanting her children knowing about the rough past she came from. As well as
wanting to learn about the secretive past his mother had he wanted to find himself

There being such a past puts people like james into confusion when trying to figure
out who they are and where they belong. James had a black father and white mother
and asked many times whether he was white or black. Although, james mother saw
the color of his skin as no reason to love him less James wanted an answer to the
question; but this was an answer his mother would not give him. Because James
went to a Jewish school that was mostly white it was hard for him to fit in and it
wasn t until he was older that he found his passion for music. James was not the
only one to struggle with where he belonged his mother also did not know where
she fit. The color of our skin should be no barrier as to where we feel comfortable

Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages
Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy
and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more
dangerous place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark
Z. Jacobson).
Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods
of producing electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are
more preferred than the toxic burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of
greenhouse gases (Health Research Funding). However, I believe that the
disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power plants demean the
advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy problems.
The disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long
lasting destructive effects on the environment and health. Health effects
Accidents
A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act
as the heat source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal
power stations work similarly, where heat is used to generate steam which drives a
turbine connected to a generator that produces electricity (European Nuclear Society).
There are four hundred nuclear power plants functioning in the world, with many in
the United States and Japan (Nuclear Energy Institute, World Statistics ). One of the
main drawbacks of using nuclear power plants is
Causes And Failures Of The League Of Nations
Introduction
I can predict with absolute certainty that within another generation there will be
another world war if the nations of the world do not concert the method by which to
prevent it.
It was with these words that Woodrow Wilson called for the formation of the League
of Nations. By 1919, after extensive discourse between the Big Three, the league was
born and its ideals and structure concocted. The League s chief goals compromised of
preventing war through collective security, disarmament and using negations to solve
disputes between nations. After the end of World War I, such an organisation was
essential to solve border disputes and prevent another war. After numerous
noteworthy successes and a few initial failures in the 1920s, the League of Nations
finally proved inept of preventing hostility from the Axis in the 1930s. And, as stated
by Dr. Afroz Alam, the onset of the Second World War suggested that the League had
failed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organisational faults included but weren t limited to the absence of major powers,
the ease of withdrawing, the idea of collective security, the need for a unanimous
vote, the veto and ambitious aims. The powers available were limited economic
sanctions were inadequate whilst military actions were difficult to implement. In my
opinion, Manchuria and Abyssinia, were the turning points and made the league
appear as incompetent, due to failed solutions, secret treaties and unfair justice.
These events are proof that peace couldn t be maintained due to self interests and
lack of mutual co operation. This allowed dictators like Hitler to get their way,
paving the path to war. I believe that the reason of paramount importance for the
failure were self interest and the lack of collaboration that shined during the crises of
the 1930 s. The league had

In A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Tool, Ignatius J. Reilly is trying to
prove that he is smarter than society in New Orleans during the 1960 s. He is
forced to find work to pay off the debt that his mother fell into after crashing her car
into a building. Ignatius has no shame in telling people how he feels about them or
their beliefs. His encounters while he is trying to find work bring out his true
colors: lazy, complaining, and paranoid. Throughout the book, Ignatius shows that
he has no desire to put the good education that he has received into effect in the real
world. While they are at the Night of Joy, Mrs. Reilly says, I spent all his poor
Grammaw Reilly s insurance money to keep him in college for eight years, and
since then all he s done is lay around the house watching television (Toole 22).
When Mrs. Reilly walks into Ignatius s room and asks him why he has trash all
over the floor, he says, That is my world view that you see. It still must be
incorporated into a whole, so be careful where you step (46). All that he means
when he says this is he is too lazy to pick it up. While Mrs. Reilly is on the phone
with Santa, she says, With all his education, mind you. Selling weenies out on the

  • 3. The Recording Of Sound Recorded By Edouard Leon Scott De... Since its infancy during the nineteenth century, the art of sound recording has been profoundly affected in countless ways by inventors, scientists, and sound engineers. From the invention of the phonograph to the computers of today, they have all made contributions to the foundation of sound recording. Going forward, technologists in today s computer age are becoming more and more creative. There has even been proof that some researchers have had a hand in altering the course of history. With that in mind, the following questions need to be addressed: How was the recording of sound discovered? What technologies were implemented to improve the science? How has today s digital age affected sound recording? Was history really altered? Is there any debate? How was the recording of sound discovered? According to history, the first sound was recorded mechanically by Г‰douard LГ©on Scott de Martinville (de Martinville) in 1857 on a machine called the phonautograph (and). His device would record sound by using a vibrating membrane that was attached to a pen (stylus) which drew a line in correspondence to sound waves onto a smoked paper roll attached to a rotating drum (and). The sounds were generated by vibrating diaphragm and a series of levers that moved the diaphragm from side to side (and). Even though de Martinville was able to duplicate sound, his machine was not able to play it back right after it was recorded (and). He made his machine this way because his intensions

Another crucial factor in becoming a pediatrician is the huge cost of tuition, as the combined cost adds up to 300,000 to 500,000 thousand (Becoming a Pediatrician: THE BOTTOM LINE). However, during residency training, you receive annual incomes up to 45,000 a year, covering living expenses for the time being and enough income for splurging. Pursuing a career in pediatrics requires extensive education, internship, and a small fortune, but its rewards far outshine its apparent

Three types of linear and planar structured donor (D) acceptor (A) type alternating copolymers were synthesized by incorporating intrachain noncovalent Coulomb interactions, based on 2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene and benzothiadiazole (BT) moieties. The chain linearity and systematic adjustment of interchain organization was achieved by the incorporation of different number of electronegative fluorine atoms onto BT, which significantly affected the frontier energy levels, film morphology, and the resulting charge transport properties. Bimodal semi crystalline orientation and charge carrier transport properties were studied by grazing incidence wide angle X ray scattering (GIWAXS) and polymerfiled effect transistor (PFET) characteristics measurements. The hole mobility as high as 0.1 cm2/Vs in PFET was measured for poly(2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene alt 4,7 (5,6 difluoro 2,1,3 benzothiadiazole)) (PPDTT2FBT), suggesting a strong self organization in the linear configuration with conformation lock with the help of fluorine atoms. The linear and difluorinated PPDTT2FT also showed the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE, 6.4%) by blending with PC71BM, but showed a poorer photovoltaic performance compared to the wavy structured counterpart, PPDT2FBT, reported previously. The mainly edge on orientation of PPDTT2FT and poor blend film morphology attributed to the moderate PCE in the blends. Fine modulation

A fable is a brief often humorous narrative told to illustrate a moral. In contrast, a tale is a short story that illustrated a series of events in a summary without detailed descriptions of its characters. 2. What lessons are taught in the first two fables ( Samarra and Tortoise ) Do you think they are still valid today? Are our lives already on a given track or do we determine how our lives will turn out? I do not believe that a person s life is predestined. This is why the mosquito is innocent. In the book it states that the mosquito told a lie to the iguana, and it caused him to put sticks in his ears and storm off. The iguana should have just ignored him instead. If the iguana would not have done this the owlet would not have been killed. The Feminine Mystique Summary In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about genderroles. Moreover, she makes use of logos, when she provides her readers with statistics about how Women constituted nearly half of the professional workforce;
  • 30. Absolute Monarchy In The 17th Century Essay Absolute Monarchy during the 17th Century During the seventeenth century, France and England experienced many conflicts that resulted in public unrest. Absolute monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. Kings must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful under absolute monarchy. In France, Louis XIV was the most successful absolute monarch due to his stature and powerful involvement in the state. In England, an effort was made by James I to control the state via absolute monarchy, but this was unsuccessful as the parliament in England was already too powerful. Power and the ability to command ministers play a crucial role in the success of an absolute monarch. To be a great monarch, one must work for the state and for the people. Pakistan and the United States are both an example of this act. For instance, many countries censor the internet, but few of the many countries tell their intentions as explicitly as Pakistan. Furthermore, President Trump may reshape DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Program, which gave young people who had come to the United Statesillegally as kids a chance to work and study in the U.S. without the fear of deportation. Similarly, President Donald Trump and former president Imran Khan had a similar political slogan for their campaign. For example, Trump s campaign slogan was he will make America Great Again and Khan s slogan was that he would Naya Pakistan which means build the entire country anew. As a result, both want to attract the majority of the population by addressing the popular sentiment. Both the United States and Pakistan are making their countrys and citizens isolated; by Trump building the border wall and Khan and the government censoring the internet, destroying knowledge and opportunities. The internet is a powerful medium for news, books, information, and ideas. It has become a brand new field for conflict about media freedom and censorship. For example, the Pakistan Government recently published a public tender for the development deployment and operation of a national level URL filtering and blocking system (Sutton 1). As a result,

  • 35. nvq level 2 unit 422-254 Understand Physical Disability Outcome 1 1. Explain why it is important to recognise and value an individual as a person A. It is important to recognise an individual as a person as it is their human right to be seen as such. If an individual is not seen as a person it devalues them and isolates them from everyday society making them feel different . 2. Describe the importance of recognising an individual s strengths and abilities A. Recognising a person s strengths and abilities encourages independence and gives the person confidence in themselves. Encouragement to use these strengths and abilities also gives the person a feeling of control over their own lives which in turn encourages self belief and confidence.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also means more disabled individuals are receiving work in television, for example, such as jack osboune who has recently been diagnosed with MS. Also the Paralympics was a huge success in Britain bringing attention to people s abilities rather than disabilities. In the workplace, policies and procedures when applying for a job in care such as CRB checks are mandatory, however CRB s do not give a well rounded picture of the potential employee s opinions, so it is up to fellow staff members to challenge them if they are deemed to be discriminatory against the residents in their care. 4. Describe the impact of disability legislation on community attitudes and practices A. Disability legislation increases the recognition of actively involving individuals with a disability into community based projects and adapting mainstream projects for the involvement of others with a disability. This encourages inclusion for disabled individuals into the community and helps with other factors such as disabled access for wheelchair users and individuals with impaired mobility in the likes of schools and universities as well as local shops and community centres. Encouraging inclusion of disabled individuals into the community normalizes disability and encourages a positive

Their dreams of independence were crushed when the Philippines were transferred from Spain to the United States in the Treaty of Paris (1898), which closed the Spanish American War. In Feb., 1899, Aguinaldo led a new revolt, this time against U.S. rule. Defeated on the battlefield, the Filipinos turned to guerrilla warfare, and their subjugation became a mammoth project for the United States one that cost far more money and took far more lives than the Spanish American War. The insurrection was effectively ended with the capture (1901) of Aguinaldo by Gen. Frederick Funston, but the question of Philippine independence remained a burning issue in the politics of both the United States and the islands. The matter was complicated by the growing economic ties between the two countries. Although comparatively little American capital was invested in island industries, U.S. trade bulked larger and larger until the Philippines became almost entirely dependent upon the American market. Free trade, established by an act of 1909, was expanded in 1913. When the Democrats came into power in 1913, measures were taken to effect a smooth transition to self rule. The Philippine assembly already had a popularly elected lower house, and the Jones Act, passed by the U.S. Congress in 1916, provided for a

On top of all these problems the Provisional Government was made up of members of the Duma who had no experience actually being in charge or having power over anything let alone the biggest and most culturally diverse country in the world. All these factors played a role in the downfall of the Provisional Government but overall it was the Provisional Government who played the biggest part in their own failure. When started the Provisional Government was an interim government which was to govern Russia until a new constitution was drawn up. But as soon as the Provisional Government was put in charge it faced the immediate problem of legitimacy. It was made up of members of the Duma and was dominated by members of the Octoberist and Kadet parties, who were minorities with only one radical member, Alexander Kerensky. This would give the Provisional Government the problem of not truly representing the people. If it was made up of minorities how can it represent the majority? In the TV show Parks and Rec, a character by the name of Leslie Knope displays a personality that one can identify as quirky and out of the ordinary. Her behaviors can be analyzed as unusual, self defeating, socially unacceptable, and causing personal distress. The times Leslie Knope has shown characteristics of being unusual is numerous. In almost every episode of Parks and Recreation, Leslie portrays a behavior that is out of the ordinary, and among a minority. An example of odd behavior would be when Andy Dwyer, a coworker of Leslie, is having his leg casts removed after falling into a pit. Leslie Knope is with him at the doctor s office, and asks to keep the casts in her possession after a doctor removes them from Andy s legs, believing that the casts were a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Another display of unusualness is when Leslie decides to promote the Pawnee Zoo by holding a marital ceremony for two penguins that are new to the zoo. In this wedding, she talks for the penguins, and dresses them in bridal wear, even though both of the penguins are male. After this causes some disruption in the town, she proceeds to capture the penguins from the zoo in Indiana, locks them in car seats, and drive them to a zoo in Iowa. The last display of unusualness is when Leslie is trying to make up a story to a park ranger to explain what happened when someone accidently got shot. She takes the blame for no apparent reason, and tries to come up with a reasonable explanation on what happened. Rather than coming up with a reason that actually makes sense, she goes on a tangent off random things that have nothing to do with what the park ranger had asked her. Along with showing traits of being unusual, Leslie also exemplifies abnormal psychologyby having self defeating behavior. Leslie portrays this by being indecisive when it comes to making decisions. In one episode, Leslie must decide between going to an important business meeting at a restaurant, and going to a friends rock show at a bar. She decides to go on the meeting, but spends the entire time talking about the rock show instead of actually conversing about

  • 49. Abnormal Behavior In Medieval Times For hundreds of years, people have tried to understand the causes and treatments of people who display abnormal behavior. The most popular belief in the Medieval times was the idea that supernatural forces, such as demons and evil spirits, were the cause of people with abnormal behavior (Nevid). Thus, their treatment of this was often brutal, involving trephination and exorcisms. Although this belief was common at the time, the ancient Greeks did not hold to this belief. Hippocrates theorized that abnormal behaviors were due to illness of the body, and that the body s humors determined ones behavior(Nevid). The belief that abnormal behavior is due to illness in the body is most similar to the modern medical model. In the late 15th and early

Because James went to a Jewish school that was mostly white it was hard for him to fit in and it wasn t until he was older that he found his passion for music. James was not the only one to struggle with where he belonged his mother also did not know where she fit. The color of our skin should be no barrier as to where we feel comfortable and fit
  • 51. Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark Z. Jacobson). Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods of producing electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are more preferred than the toxic burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of greenhouse gases (Health Research Funding). However, I believe that the disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power plants demean the advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy problems. The disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long lasting destructive effects on the environment and health. Health effects Accidents A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act as the heat source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal power stations work similarly, where heat is used to generate steam which drives a turbine connected to a generator that produces electricity (European Nuclear Society). There are four hundred nuclear power plants functioning in the world, with many in the United States and Japan (Nuclear Energy Institute, World Statistics ). One of the main drawbacks of using nuclear power plants is
  • 52. Causes And Failures Of The League Of Nations Introduction I can predict with absolute certainty that within another generation there will be another world war if the nations of the world do not concert the method by which to prevent it. It was with these words that Woodrow Wilson called for the formation of the League of Nations. By 1919, after extensive discourse between the Big Three, the league was born and its ideals and structure concocted. The League s chief goals compromised of preventing war through collective security, disarmament and using negations to solve disputes between nations. After the end of World War I, such an organisation was essential to solve border disputes and prevent another war. After numerous noteworthy successes and a few initial failures in the 1920s, the League of Nations finally proved inept of preventing hostility from the Axis in the 1930s. And, as stated by Dr. Afroz Alam, the onset of the Second World War suggested that the League had failed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organisational faults included but weren t limited to the absence of major powers, the ease of withdrawing, the idea of collective security, the need for a unanimous vote, the veto and ambitious aims. The powers available were limited economic sanctions were inadequate whilst military actions were difficult to implement. In my opinion, Manchuria and Abyssinia, were the turning points and made the league appear as incompetent, due to failed solutions, secret treaties and unfair justice. These events are proof that peace couldn t be maintained due to self interests and lack of mutual co operation. This allowed dictators like Hitler to get their way, paving the path to war. I believe that the reason of paramount importance for the failure were self interest and the lack of collaboration that shined during the crises of the 1930 s. The league had
