o Greeting patients, performing patient assessments, reviewing dialysis orders, note
physical and mental condition of patients through observation and interviews,
document data to determine compliance to dietary or medication regimen, review lab
work, and work with team to develop patient care plans.
o Initiate and administer hemodialysis treatment via subclavian catheters, A-V grafts and
fistulas, administer parental and per oral medications, fluid therapy, blood products
o Perform patient care activities such as taking vital signs, perform treatments such as,
suture removals, splints, administer oral, and parental medications & venipuncture
duties
o Independently performs the assessment,initiation, monitoring and termination of acute
dialysis treatment of compromised patients according to the physician's order.
o Explains to patient all the phases of treatment per physician's orders.
o Maintain effective channel of communication
o Perform analysis of patient's data; assess and monitor status of vascular access,
review laboratory results, assess patient's condition throughout the procedure and
report any relevant changes or abnormalities to physician
o Initiate communication with multiple physicians to obtain patient assignments and
delegate assignments to staff nurses based on geographic location and multiple staff
barriers.
o Prioritize and strategically rearrange patient assignments throughout the workday
based on acuity level and medical necessities of critically ill patients.
o Cover night call on multiple occasions to alleviate the burden of the scheduled call
person when it is unavoidable to assign the maximum patient load.
