Cutting mode uses lower energy than coagulation mode and is preferred to minimize initial bleeding when possible during flexible endoscopy. Coagulation mode can cause delayed bleeding while cutting results in initial bleeding but less chance of delayed bleeding. Biopsy forceps have a greater risk of capacitance coupling compared to snares during flexible endoscopy due to their larger diameter, so care should be taken to avoid complications. Lifting and tenting the mucosa and wiggling the endoscope when removing polyps can help prevent burn injuries to surrounding tissue from capacitance coupling.
