Xylem and phloem are the primary transport systems in plants, known as vascular bundles, which transport water, minerals, and nutrients throughout the plant. Xylem consists mainly of dead tissue and transports water from roots to leaves, while phloem consists of living tissue that moves sucrose and amino acids between plant parts. Transpiration involves the loss of water vapor from leaves, aiding in the upward movement of water, while translocation refers to the distribution of nutrients from supply sources to storage or utilization sinks.
