has existed at that site for last 9000 years.
The Umayyad Dynasty made Cordoba their
capital and made it one of the finest cities in
the world .

The Umayyad Dynasty is noted for the
expansion of Muslim territories across
North Africa, Europe and Asia. Bukhara
and Samarkand came under Umayyad
rule, and under Muhammad bin Qasim,
The Arabs invaded Sindh and captured
lands up to Multan. There was greater
activity on sea than on land:
What was the significant about
Umayyad Dynasty?
Constantipole were conquered by an
Arab fleet, as were the Island of Sicily
and Rhodes. These and later victories
at sea brought Muawiya the credit for
building up Muslim naval power.
Umayyad dynasty
The Umayyad dynasty lasted less than a
century in Damascus before it was driven out
in 750 by the ʿAbbāsid dynasty. A remnant of
the Umayyad dynasty was resurrected in 756
in Córdoba, Spain, and continued to rule there
into the 11th century.
